Classpect Analysis - Seer of Life/Knight of Doom (2024)

So I hear you are doing some classpects analysis eh? Mind telling me about the Seer of Life and the Knight of Doom?

Two classpects? At the same time? JUST when I had a routine going?

*rubs hands* Alright, let's get to work.

Life/Doom

Life and Doom are polar opposites, so that makes this subject a bit easier to tackle.

First off, Life. Life is the aspect of desires, selfish needs, and impulse. This aspect is all about energy and hyperactivity, the need to devour in order to grow, create, and change. Life is also a very self-centered aspect, perhaps moreso than Heart, because Life is all about want.

As with any aspect, Life has its ups and downs. Life is the energy to get what you want done, and the joy that comes from achieving what you desire. It's what you consume in order to act on your goals, and what you create when you inspire others. A lot of times in daily life this manifests into momentary cravings, like eating dessert, which is why Life is almost always associated with cake.

Of course, if you act too much on your desires, without restraint or thought for the consequences, you could end up in a number of bad situations.

Think Trickster Mode:

According to a theory byBlastYoBoots, Trickster Mode was created when Jane's powers as a Maid of Life were supercharged. So all the extremes of Life (love, having children, partying, and basically doing whatever you wanted to at the moment) were demonstrated with this obnoxious mini-arc. Without restraint, too much Life can destroy relationships (Jake with Dirk and Jane), lead to addiction (Roxy breaking her sobriety), and...

Yeah...let's go on to Doom.

As I said before, Doom is Life's polar opposite. While Life is desire, Doom is restraint, which manifests in systems and sacrifice. Doom is what keeps people from doing something stupid, whether simply through self-doubt to common sense to rules of law. It's what creates systems of order and punishment so everything runs according to plan.

Sacrifice is also a major part of Doom. Losing something of your own in order to achieve a goal or in order to help others is the ultimate inverse of Life, which is all about self want and desire. Sacrificing time, money, sanity, and even lives are all weapons at a Doom player's disposal.

The Heir of Doom was once a powerful psionic. He was gifted with vision twofold, and had strong prophetic insights wherever a 8leak future was concerned. He had much to say when it came to warning us a8out the path of doom and destruction we were all headed for, 8ut no one took him very seriously. 8ut one day he lost all those abilities when he 8adly overexerted himself. It's hard to get any specifics from him, 8ut indications are that he applied every last 8it of energy he had toward some great act of heroism, saving us all from some looming threat. Not only did his exertion permanently 8urn out his psychic a8ilities, 8ut it left him somewhat... er. Incoherent.

However, much like how Life players need to learn restraint, Doom players need to learn how to lighten up. Not everything is doom and gloom, and cutting loose a little every now and then is needed in order to enjoy Life.

For example, Sollux began the story doubting himself, with his vicious mood swings driving others away. But thanks to Feferi, the Witch of Life,

Sollux learned to like himself a little more.

Thus achieving the balance every classpect needs.

Knight

Seer

Seers are the passive Understand class, and really, I can't explain them better than this image:

Basically, Seers tend to understand the ins-and-outs of their aspect just as much as a Mage. But instead of shoving people aside, shouting, "Get out of my way, I know what I'm doing!", Seers instead lurk in the background and instruct others to complete an objective. Whether that be through manipulating people from the shadows or standing atop a pulpit to guide others depends on the Seer's Aspect; but however they accomplish it, Seers are the ones who love it when a plan comes together.

A Seer's main job is to comprehensively know their aspect, and make sure the advice they're giving is true. When focused on their aspect, Seers can create a lot of good. But sometimes, a Seer decides to focus on nonsense instead.

A Seer must also learn when they should give advice and when they should let someone follow their own path. Pushing someone in the right direction, even guiding them on it, is a great idea and the main focus of the Seer. But the path still must be the one chosen by the person; otherwise, the Seer just turns into a massive control freak at best and a tyrant at worst.

But what if a Seer loses faith in others, and instead tries to take matters into their own hands? Yes, sometimes a Seer does have to step up and take action, but never without the backing of their friends and followers. If a Seer tries to control everything themselves, they invert into a Witch, the active Change class. And as we all know...

That doesn't work out too well.

Now on to the actual classpects!

Seer of Life

A Seer of Life is "one who understands Life and understands through Life". Essentially, they see others wants and desires, as well as how far they'll go to obtain them.

A healthy Seer of Life's job is to guide others toward their desires, encouraging them to go after what they've been too fearful to try out. They also need to see when people are losing their energy, perhaps through physical or mental exhaustion, and plan around that.

Finally, a Seer of Life must keep track of people's desires to make sure they're noble. If what someone wanted could most likely hurt someone (unwanted lust, greed, revenge), a Seer of Life must be able to put an end to it, whether directly or through others.

Knight of Doom

A Knight of Doom can be translated as "one who exploits Doom and exploits through Doom." In simpler terms, Knights are weaponizers of restraint and sacrifice, utilizing them in order to strengthen their own character.

When talking about restraint, Knights of Doom would sacrifice their time and energy in order to train, becoming stronger even if they barely show progress. Knights of Doom would usually restrain themselves in day to day life, whether physically through weights or mentally through rules of their own design, in order to enhance their skills around these restrictions.But once the weights (physical or mental) are down, the gloves areoff.

When talking about sacrifice, however, Knights of Doom would be excellent utilizers of self-loss. In order to achieve a goal, Knights of Doom would sacrifice almost anything to obtain it, making them practically unstoppable.No matter what loss comes at them, they'll take that loss and use it for strength.Cut off their arm in a fight? They'll take that arm and beat you with it!

However, a fully-realized Knight of Doom's tale almost always ends in tragedy. After all, there is no greater sacrifice than one's own life, and a Knight of Doom would lay down his own in a heartbeat for the greater good. Such is the path of a player of Doom, but still an extremely noble path nonetheless.
