Our Perfect Eggshell Wall Paint offers beautifully rich color with a barely-there sheen. Eggshell is the perfect all-purpose paint finish that works well in any room in your home! And even though we call it Wall Paint, it's suitable for any surface where you want a pristine look with a soft sheen. It offers enough durability that it’s easy to wipe down and resists dirt, grime, and mildew.

Our Trim Paint comes in a Subtle Semi-Gloss finish which is ideal for trim, cabinets, high touch surfaces, furniture, and spaces that experience high humidity or low ventilation, such as small bathrooms. A semi-gloss paint finish will read "shinier" than an eggshell finish. This shinier finish offers that extra bit of durability, so it will be more stain, scuff, and mildew-resistant and be even easier to clean.

Product Information

While our paint is considered self-priming, these are the cases where we recommend using primer:

- Current surface (that you're painting over) is a darker color or a higher gloss finish

- Surface has a lot of imperfections e.g., repairs, patches, stains, etc.

- Surface is unfinished, porous, or has been sanded down

- Your space gets very little ventilation

Our primer is also fast-drying and works for a variety of interior surfaces, including drywall, wood, and masonry, as well as hard-to-stick surfaces such as aged alkyd, aluminum, and galvanized metal.

We teamed up with the best factories in the industry to manufacture our paint and supplies. Our paint factory has nearly 100 years of experience and a well-earned reputation for quality. We reviewed hundreds of paint formulas and consulted with industry experts to bring you the best performing, ultra-premium, Zero VOC paint that both homeowners and professionals would love.

We've done extensive performance testing as well as benchmark tests to see how our paint stacks up against leading premium brands, including ones that sell for more than $100 per gallon. Clare rates at or above competitors in applied hide (coverage), scrub resistance, stain resistance, and all other key performance attributes.

Definitely! We recommend using ourTrim Paintbecause it's specifically formulated for higher touch surfaces, but you can use our Wall Paint, too. Just make sure to properly prep and prime your furniture before painting!

Yes, all of our paints can be used with a paint sprayer! We’d recommend an airless sprayer as most professionals use this, but you can use any type of paint sprayer. No need to thin or dilute our paints. Our paint is ready to go to be used with any paint sprayer.

Our Wall Paint can definitely be used on ceilings! While all of our paints are designed for all interior surfaces, we formulated our Ceiling Paint to have less spatter and the flat finish helps to hide imperfections, ideal for painting a ceiling. However, we love seeing how adventurous our customers get with color! All of our paints’ ultra-premium formulas use high quality ingredients and deliver exceptional performance including washability, scrubbability, and durability (and all of the other -abilities in between).

Our Trim Paint can definitely be used on walls! While all of our paints are designed for all interior surfaces, our Trim Paint has a subtle semi-gloss finish which makes it our most durable paint and optimal for use on high touch surfaces such as trims, doors, cabinets, and window frames. It’s also great for high traffic areas such as hallways and mudrooms. All of our paints’ ultra-premium formulas use high quality ingredients and deliver exceptional performance including washability, scrubbability, and durability (and all of the other -abilities in between).

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), are carbon-containing compounds, emitted as gasses, that can pollute the air in your home and the environment. VOCs are commonly present in a wide array of household products, including paints made with carbon-based solvents.

VOCs contribute to ozone pollution which is bad for the environment. VOCs also contribute to air pollution indoors. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), VOCs contribute 2 to 5 times higher pollution of air indoors than outdoors, which is why it’s important to us to create products that support healthier indoor air environments.

Our interior paint is Zero VOC, which means no carbon-based solvents (VOCs) have been intentionally added to our products, although trace amounts of VOC may be present as residual components of other ingredients.

While no VOCs have been intentionally added to our products, trace amounts may be present as residual components of other ingredients. VOC contents in paint are regulated by the EPA. As per EPA Test Method 24, a paint is classified as Zero VOC if it contains less than 5 g/L of VOC content. The maximum VOC content levels in our paint are as follows:

Wall Paint 2 g/L Trim Paint 2 g/L Ceiling Paint 2 g/L Primer 3 g/L (ASTM Test Method D 6886)

We use only Zero VOC colorants in our interior paint, so they won’t add VOCs when the paint is tinted.

Our interior paint is GREENGUARD Gold Certified, meaning it is certified to be low-emitting, contains fewer pollutants and contributes to healthier indoor air quality. GREENGUARD Certification requires that products meet some of the world's most rigorous standards for low emissions of VOCs into indoor environments. To become GREENGUARD Gold Certified, our interior paint formulas were extensively tested for over 360 VOCs and other hazardous chemicals. The paint is tested in a dynamic environmental chambers where air flow is modeled to simulate actual product use in a typical home environment. Measurements for chemical and particle emissions are taken at intervals during testing and products are required to meet allowable emission levels within 7 to 14 days of installation. This testing is performed by UL Environment, a global, independent safety science company with more than a century of expertise.

The GREENGUARD Gold standard includes health based criteria for additional chemicals and also requires lower total VOC emissions levels to ensure that products are acceptable for use in environments such as schools and healthcare facilities. In addition to limiting emissions of more than 360 VOCs and total chemical emissions, GREENGUARD Gold Certified products must also comply with requirements of the State of California's Department of Public Health "Standard Method for the Testing and Evaluation of Volatile Organic Chemical Emissions from Indoor Sources Using Environmental Chambers, Version 1.1 (2010)" (also known as California Section 01350).

To remain certified, our interior paint will undergo comprehensive certification testing on an annual basis, so you can have peace of mind that our products support better healthier indoor air environments.

You can view the ingredients on our product labels, or on our technical data sheets (TDS) which are viewablehere.

Unopened cans of paint can last for around three years, so long as it’s stored properly. Once your paint has been opened, shelf life can vary depending on factors like temperature and air exposure. If the paint is exposed to too much air, it can potentially dry out. Sealing your paint tightly will keep your paint fresh for as long as possible. Seal your paint can tightly using a rubber mallet (not a hammer, which can leave dents in the can) so air doesn’t seep in and shorten the paint’s shelf life. Room temperature is ideal and you should avoid extreme hot or cold temperatures which can ruin your paint.

Our Ceiling Paint, Wall Paint and Trim Paint all have a mildew-resistant finish which helps inhibit the growth of mildew. While the mildew-resistant finish will help keep mildew growth at bay, it will NOT prevent, or fix the growth of mold, mildew, or other fungi. Painted surfaces in high-moisture spaces, such as bathrooms, or homes in excessively humid climates, should have proper ventilation to help avoid mildew and mold.

Our exterior paint is similar to our interior collection as it’s available in all of our curated colors, but it's designed to be extremely durable and survive adverse weather like harsh UV rays, cold weather and rain.

Product Maintenance

You can use a small flat head screwdriver to remove the clips. If you insert the blade under a clip and twist the screw driver, it should pop off!

We recommend sealing the lid of your can using a rubber mallet. Avoid using a hammer, which can leave dents in the can and allow air to seep in which will shorten the paint’s shelf life.

Leftover paint can be kept and reused for quite a long time if stored properly. First, seal the lid of your can using a rubber mallet. (Avoid using a hammer, which can leave dents in the can and allow air to seep in and shorten the paint’s shelf life.) It’s best to store leftover paint in a cool, dark location free from moisture or extreme temperatures. Moisture can cause your paint container to rust and extreme heat or cold can ruin your paint.

We always recommend recycling leftover paint since it can be used to make new water-based paints or mixed together for reuse in community projects like graffiti removal.

If you live in one of the 9 states withPaintCare, an organization that manages local paint recycling programs, take leftover paint to a drop-off site, where it is sorted for reuse, recycling, energy recovery, or safe disposal.

For those living in non-PaintCare states, you can donate unused and unopened water-based paint at aHabitat for Humanity ReStore, which sells gently-used and discounted furniture, appliances and building materials, like paint, from Habitat projects across the country.

You can also drop off leftover paint at household hazardous waste collection sites and events nationwide. Household paint is NOT considered hazardous waste, but lots of hazardous waste sites will take it off your hands and ensure proper disposal. Find a list of sites by inputting your zip code in this recycling search tool from Earth911.

Latex paint such as ours can be thrown into the trash only after it has been fully dried out. If you have a small amount of paint left in your can, remove the lid and allow it to dry out and solidify, then you can toss it in with your regular household trash.

If you have a larger amount of paint to dispose of, our favorite hack is kitty litter which helps dry your paint out faster. Stir in equal parts kitty litter into your paint can (or a larger, leakproof container if needed) until it starts to thicken. Then let it sit until it's fully dried out, usually about 24 hours. Once it's dry, you can throw the dried paint bits in the garbage.

Remember, when getting rid of paint, never pour leftovers down the drain or onto the ground.

Check your local regulations and visit these sites for more helpful resources on paint recycling.

How to Recycle Paint

Paint that has been (even partially) frozen and thawed is unusable and won’t adhere to walls properly. It will most likely have the consistency of cottage cheese. The best thing to do is to dispose of the paint - check out our blog postherefor more details. If you think your paint has been frozen, please contact [email protected], and we’ll make it right!
