You can check how much battery your Pixel Tablet has left in the status bar at the top of your tablet's screen, or in the Settings app . When your tablet is charging, you can check how long until your battery is fully charged, and hide or display the battery percentage in the status bar.
To get the most out of your battery's charge, you can change how your Pixel Tablet's battery uses apps and background services. You can also check how much battery charge is left on your tablet, and how battery usage changes over time.
Note: Some features are not available in all countries or languages.

Check the battery level on your Pixel Tablet
Your battery level is displayed at the corner of your Pixel Tablet, in the status bar. It looks like a battery.
Display battery percentage in the status bar
- Open your device's Settings app .
- Tap Battery turn on Battery percentage.
To check how much charge is left on your battery:
- Open your device's Settings app .
- Tap Battery.
- At the top, under the percentage, check how much battery charge you have left.
Add the Battery widget to your Home screen
You can add the battery widget to your Home screen to get detailed information about your battery charge, including for any attached accessories, and for fast access to the Battery menu.
Important: The battery widget is available on Android 12 and later and works with devices that report battery info using Bluetooth or Google Fast Pair Service. Learn how to check your Android version.
- On your Home screen, touch and hold an empty space.
- Tap Widgets Battery.
- Touch and hold the Battery widget drag it to your home screen.
- To remove the Battery widget, touch and hold it drag it to "Remove" at the top of the screen.
Check your Pixel Tablet's battery usage
Check and change an app's battery usage
To check your apps' battery usage over time and change how apps use your battery:
- Open your device's Settings app .
- Tap Battery Battery usage.
- To check how an app uses your battery, under "View by apps", tap the app's name.
- Choose a battery setting:
- Unrestricted: Remove limits on how an app uses the battery when running in the background.
- Optimized: Recommended for most apps. Apps will make the most efficient use of your battery.
- Restricted: Restricts battery usages while in the background. Some apps might not work as expected and some notifications might be delayed.
Check battery usage by system function
To check your battery usage by system function like CPU, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth:
- Open your device's Settings app.
- Tap Battery Battery usage.
In the dropdown menu, select View by systems.
Tips to help reduce battery drain
You can change your settings and background activities to help your tablet's battery last longer:
Battery saver turns on the Dark theme and limits background activity to save battery life. Learn how to use and schedule the Battery Saver feature.
Adaptive Battery learns from your tablet's usage to continuously optimize how apps use battery. To extend battery life, it may reduce performance and delay notifications. To turn it on:
- Open your device's Settings app .
- Tap Battery.
- Tap Battery saver turn on Adaptive Battery.
Avoid actions that keep the screen on continuously
- Turn off your screen when you're not using it.
- Let your screen turn off sooner automatically:
- Open your device's Settings app .
- Tap Display Screen timeout.
- Choose a shorter timeout.
- Turn on Dark Theme:
- Open your device's Settings app .
- Tap Display turn on Dark theme.
- Restrict apps with high background battery use.
- Turn off tethering and hotspots when you're not using them.
Limit how much information you process
- Close the camera app when you are not using it.
- Shut down apps you don't use.
