When you have a question regarding your credit card it’s sometimes hard to know where to start. Should you search for the answer to your question online, call the bank, or…?

The good news is, you have options. And one of the best ways to connect with the bank is through the secure messaging center.

The secure messaging option is available with all of the Chase cards, including the ever-popularChase Sapphire Preferred® CardandChase Sapphire Reserve®. It’s also possible to send secure messages if you need help with popular co-branded Chase cards like the World of Hyatt Credit CardandIHG® Rewards Premier Credit Card.

The great thing about utilizing the secure message tool is being able to connect with the bank on your own time. And almost any request you might have can be addressed through the secure message system. Here’s how it works:

What is Chase secure message?

A secure message is a message which you send after logging into to your Chase account. This is more secure than regular email and is sent from the Chase Secure Message Center – hence the name “secure message.”

How do I access my Chase secure message center?

Step 1 – Log in to account

The first step is to log in to your Chase account using your username and password.

Step 2 – Navigate to the secure message center

From there, click the three bars in the top left corner of the page.

You’ll see a dropdown from which you can select “Secured messages.”

Step 3 – Create and send your secure message

Once you’re in the secure message center you’ll be able to see incoming secure messages, write a new secure message, see your sent messages and special offers.

If you need to send a new secure message, click the “New message” box and continue through with the process of creating a new message. You’ll be asked to select a message topic, which card the message pertains to (if you have multiple Chase cards under the same login), and then write and send the message. In my experience, Chase usually responds pretty quickly, but it can take up to 48 hours to receive a response. Chase’s response will come right back to the inbox in the secure message center.

What can I do with Chase secure message?

Chase’s secure message center can be used to do many of the same things you can do by calling the bank directly, including common requests like setting up a travel notification, requesting a balance transfer and more.

In fact, it’s a great way tomatch you to the best available offer if you applied for a credit card with a lower offer in the past 90 days. Offers can change and sometimes the bank will be kind enough to match the better offer — it certainly never hurts to ask.

What are the benefits of using a secure message?

I prefer using the secure messaging tool because it’s usually more efficient than calling the bank directly. I don’t have to hold on the line and wait for a representative, and Chase’s customer service is usually very prompt and helpful with their replies. It’s also a good option for Chase cardholders who would rather not communicate over the phone. Sometimes it’s nerve-wracking to have to speak directly to bank representatives, and the secure message option may be a less stressful way of getting your questions answered.
