This is a simple question, but one I cannot find an answer to on the Apple page.
Is the charger that comes with the iPhone country specific, or can it handle the range between 100- 240V?
Of course, I need an adaptor for the plug, but do I also need a converter?

Any help would be appreciated?

The Apple USB Power Adapter supports 100-240V 0.15A 50/60 Hz. It's worldwide AC compatible. This USB Power Adapter has fixed prongs for use in the U.S., Canada, Japan, Taiwan, and parts of Latin America. Apple sells the Apple World Travel Adapter Kit which includes the AC plugs to support outlets in North America, Japan, China, United Kingdom, Continental Europe, Korea, Australia, and Hong Kong.

Just checked. Yes, it does have 240 - 100 written on it in extremely small and faint print. I do not have good eyesight, so thanks for the heads up on this. I would not have found it without everyones' help.

Cheers,

Muz

From my first post: Yes.

Ignore the other posters, the information I provided in my first post is all you need to know.

The miniplug that comes with the 3G and 3GS is 110v only.

The world traveler kit for iPod and iPhone comes with at 100-240v block and multiple plugs. Essentially the power adapter that shipped with the original iphone, and extra plugs.

What's the "miniplug"? I have a 3G and it came with the standard AC/USB cube power adapter. It's rated 100-240 VAC 50-60Hz, 150mA.

I thought that was the only adapted Apple provided with the 3G/S.

Thanks to everyone for contributing to this post.

I am just a little confused. I have the cube power adapter that came with my iPhone 3G. I went over the documentation that came with it, and the voltage rating is not mentioned.

My question is: Is the cube power adaptor that came with the phone rated 100-240V?

I am in Japan and heading to Australia next week, so I know I will need a different plug but do I need a converter. Can anyone find this on the Apple web site?

Best,

Muz

That is incorrect. Get out your magnifying glass, look closely at the face with the prongs, you will see the voltage clearly stated at 100-240.

As the other poster suggested, get a magnifying glass and see what is printed onto it! if you see 110 to 240, it is all you need.

there might be differences in usb power supplies sold in different parts of the world with your iPhone. Even so I doubt Apple that is specifically selling different versions ... wouldn't make sense if they can deliver 110 to 240 ones in europe, why not elsewhere.

Wrong. It is 100-240v 50/60 Hz. All you need is a plug adapter. You can check for yourself by reading the printing on the miniplug. You may need a magnifying glass.

There seems to be some confusion with the mini-plug.

Again, thanks for all your comments on this topic.
I will check to see if there is an inscription on the cube.
