How and where to get cash, and how much you can withdraw from various types of Nationwide account with and without having to show ID. With ID, you may be able to take out larger amounts.

Daily withdrawal limits
How much cash you can take out depends on the type of account you have and where you’re making the withdrawal.
Information:
For joint accounts, each account holder can withdraw the maximum amount from their savings account in the UK, or their current account in the UK or abroad.

FlexDirect and InvestDirect withdrawals
If you have a FlexDirect account, you can make withdrawals from a Nationwide branch counter if a cash machine is unavailable.
For InvestDirect account holders, in the event of a postal strike or a cash machine breakdown, you can request an emergency withdrawal in branch. You will need to show ID.
Cash machine charges
We won't charge you for using UK cash machines, but cash machine providers sometimes have their own charges. Check before using.
Credit card daily withdrawal limits
The minimum you can withdraw from a cash machine in the UK or abroad, or in a Nationwide branch using any credit card, is £10 per day.
The maximum amount each card holder can withdraw per day from a cash machine is £300.
The maximum withdrawal in a Nationwide branch is £500.
Branch counter and passbook withdrawals
Cash withdrawals up to £2,000
You can visit your local branch.
We don't need any notice. We should be able to offer this on the day.
Cash withdrawals over £2,000
We'll try to offer this on the day. But it depends on the amount of cash the branch has available.
To avoid any inconvenience, we recommend giving the branch at least 1 full working day's notice (Saturday is not a working day). Please allow an extra day for bank holidays or an extra 2 days when there is more than a day's bank holiday.
When collecting your money, please bring ID to prove your name and address.

Larger withdrawals
If you need to make a larger withdrawal, there are some extra things we'll need.
We may ask you to answer a few questions about the cash withdrawal. We do this to help keep your money safe and check for scams.
If you request a counter draft over £10,000, you'll need to provide ID to prove your name and address.
You can withdraw up to £500,000 per day with a counter draft, subject to the terms and conditions of your account.
