Care2 is a social networking website that was founded by Randy Paynter in 1998. The goal of the site is to connect activists from around the world with other individuals, organizations and responsible businesses.
Care2 Stands With: humanitarians, animal lovers, feminists, rabble-rousers, nature-buffs, creatives, the naturally curious, and people who really love to do the right thing.
Care2 allows individuals around the world to create and sign petitions on topics of public interest. As part of that signing process, we collect personal name and address information to validate the identity of the signer.
An online petition demanding justice for George Floyd has gathered more than 18 million signatures since last month. It's the most signed petition on Change.org but far from the only one online. Thousands have signed for justice in Breonna Taylor's case too.
There are no legal requirements for public purpose and internet petitions. They're often simply raising awareness about an issue. All successful petitions, regardless of whether they have legal requirements, tend to follow a basic format.
