Can I use calculators on the ACCUPLACER math tests? – ACCUPLACER? ›

You're not allowed to bring a physical calculator into the test center or use handheld calculators on any ACCUPLACER Math test. Exception: Students who've been approved to use handheld calculators through an official accommodations request may use them in accordance with the approved accommodation.

ACCUPLACER Placement Test

Personal calculators are not allowed, however, a pop-up calculator is provided on specific test questions. There is no charge for the first time testing. Retesting is $10. Test scores are valid 5 years for Reading, 3 years for EAP tests, 2 years for Math.

You must bring in a photo ID and your student number. (See below for more information.) Students should not bring anything else into the testing center. All testing materials are provided, including scrap paper.

You are not allowed the use of any electronic devices during your assessment or the use of a calculator during your math assessment unless approved by Disability Resources and Services as an accommodation.

The Accuplacer Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics Test (QAS) are used to evaluate test-takers' understanding of algebraic expressions, exponents, and rational numbers. They'll also be tested on their ability to graph linear equations and determine proportional relationships.

The difficulty of the test really depends on your current math and English skills - students with solid preparation typically find it manageable, but others may feel quite challenged.

For some schools, a score between 200 and 230 will require students to take a lower-level math course, while a score between 230 and 300 will gain them admission into a higher-level math course.

Remember: No one passes or fails ACCUPLACER tests, but it's important to complete the test using your best effort, so you can get an accurate measure of your academic skills and be placed in the appropriate course.

Q: Are students able to take restroom breaks? A: Yes, if a student needs a break you should stop their test session. Please note that the student will need to reenter their voucher information to resume testing.

The higher the score, the better the candidate for placement performed on the exam. Scoring requirements for college-level writing classes can range from 250 to 280 points. College-bound students may need to earn at least 5 points on the WritePlacer Essay Test to qualify for entry-level English classes.

Can I use a calculator in an aptitude test? ›

Numerical aptitude tests for professional and managerial roles don't measure your arithmetical skills, but your ability to use numerical information to make business-related decisions. Hence, you are usually allowed to use a simple calculator.

If you have a score of 75 or less

You have placed into MATH 021 (possibly followed by MATH 022) or MATH 025. Upon completion of MATH 021 you are eligible to take MATH 131, 136, 137 or 145. You are eligible to retest one time.

For students who are unable to come to campus for placement testing, The College Board ACCUPLACER's approved virtual proctoring third-party vendor, Examity, is available to students interested in placement testing from home.

ACCUPLACER Reading, Writing, Quantitative Reasoning and Statistics, and Advanced Algebra and Functions tests each have a score range of 200–300.

You can take the test as many times as you need to until you pass. The test is untimed and is open book.

Use ACCUPLACER study guides and practice tests to help you identify areas where you need to improve. Create a study schedule and stick to it, making sure to allocate enough time for each subject. Get plenty of rest and eat a nutritious meal before the exam to help you perform your best.

Each university determines what constitutes a "good" ACCUPLACER test score. Given that, our general advice is that you should aim for a score at least a 237 or higher.
