Demnach hat Berkshire Hathaway seit dem letzten Jahr Aktien im Volumen von 6,7 Mrd. Dollar erworben.
In der Regel müssen große Investoren in den USA bekannt geben, wenn Beteiligungen die Schwelle von 100 Mio. Dollar überschreiten. Doch Berkshire bekam von der SEC eine Ausnahmegenehmigung erteilt. Der Grund dafür ist nicht bekannt. Aber Aktienkurse von Unternehmen steigen nahezu immer deutlich, sobald Berkshire die neue Beteiligung bekannt gibt. Anleger sind davon überzeugt, dass eine Investition von Buffett ein Gütesiegel ist. Unmittelbar nachdem die Beteiligung an Chubb veröffentlicht wurde, schoss der Kurs kräftig nach oben.

Chubb ist einer der weltweit größten Versicherer und wird an der Börse derzeit mit 103 Mrd. Dollar bewertet. Chubbs Chef Evan Greenberg gehörte zu einer Gruppe von US-Top-Managern, die im März im Rahmen eines Wirtschaftsforums in Peking mit Chinas Präsidenten Xi Jinping zusammentrafen.

Am Ende des laufenden Quartals würden die Reserven die Marke von 200 Mrd. Dollar knacken, so Buffett. Unter dem Strich nahm Berkshire jüngst sehr viel mehr Geld durch Verkäufe ein, als es investierte. Allein die Reduzierung des Anteils an Apple brachte Berkshire schätzungsweise 40 Mrd. Dollar.
