Figma Update: Drafts will no longer be free? 📝 Correction: Drafts are free still - but they are moving under teams.They will be migrated under teams and subject to collaboration permissions of teams it seems. Trying to get more details to fully understand the downstream impact.You can have an unlimited number of drafts once they are housed within a team and they remain private however...What was unclear to me is if you have contributors on your drafts do they need to be housed within that team? (seems yes they should be)Do those contributors need a paid account etc? (assuming the team is paid yes/ if it's part of your free team for starter no?)https://lnkd.in/eK_JDs3eBoo... It's not as bad as I originally assumed but I'm still admittedly bummed. Even in a paid setting drafts offered an opportunity for 1 off projects where you needed to only share with one or a few members of another team without adding them to your team permissions. Drafts also helped for super secret projects without having to create a team with secret hidey permissions 🤫 I assume file permissions still allow for override on individual files. Let's see how this all plays out.How do y'all feel?Who's jumping ship? Note: I'm going to look into the education version because the limitations on the free account can be challenging, but many juniors/ aspiring designers don't have funds to invest into a paid version for learning purposes.

You don't have to be on a paid plan to have your own drafts. There is no limit to the number of drafts you can create across all tiers (including free Starter). Hope this helps.

It looks like the changes aren’t that big. On a free account, you can have unlimited viewers, but once a file is opened up to collaborators, you’re limited to three.If I remember right, I think I needed to move a file from drafts into a team just to invite a collaborator, a couple years ago.That said, since you mentioned jumping ship: I do personally have a curiosity to try out Penpot… I just haven’t identified the right opportunity to jump into it yet.

Before design I was a snowboard instructor, ESL teacher and more …Design has been the majority of my career but I’ve also sold hot dogs 🌭 at football games, wrapped burritos 🌯 at Taco Bell, taught English as a second language in 🇫🇷 or rode the rope tow switch foot with someone’s kid in tow 🏂 (I’m goofy). However because I’ve worked in-house, agency and moonlighted 🌙 (freelanced on top of full time) I’ve also run my own business. I’ve closed clients, I’ve fired clients, I’ve hired and let go freelance support when they weren’t fulfilling the agreements. I’ve been laid off, I’ve gotten countless promotions (I’m a try-hard, though I’m improving and finding balance ).Design and specifically uplifting the design community always calls me home.But I’m not gonna lie, if I win the lottery - I’m moving to a chalet in the woods to raise goats 🐐 and make cheese.Do you have any past lives or breaks from design on your journey?
