“We’re asking them to act like owners and to think like owners.” Smart move by Walmart Surprised it’s taken so long to get there; even more so that they are one of only a handful of major #retailers aligning Store Manager comp with that of (most of) their corporate peers. From my experience, Store Manager quality is very closely aligned with store sales and four-wall profit, as well as the underlying drivers such as C-Sat / NPS, CLTV, and E-Sat. I hope this proves to be a tipping point for the industry. https://lnkd.in/ezhBr4ms

Acquiring and training a quality store manager has always been a challenge. I don't think they arrived at the king's salary until Walmart 😉 A good manager of a strong store had a nice salary already in the 90s. The store/supermarket works not only because of the good location, but because of the skills of the manager. Sales can be big, but that person will make you profits. He manages people, and retail is primarily people, on both sides👍#supermarket#storeoperations#retail

Walmart is increasing the pay and stock grant options for store mangers who can now have an average salary of $128,000 USD. With full options and bonuses a SuperCentre manager could make $400,000 USD. The company says that quality store management and appropriate compensation is critical to driving sales. #storemanagement #storemanager #walmart #executivecompensation #stockoptions #employeeengagement #drivinggrowth #bigbox #bigboss

Despite digital's penetration in retail, physical stores remain a vital part -- if not the lifeblood -- of most retailers' businesses: from providing memorable and differentiating customer experiences to fulfilling online orders to generating in-store sales. And now Walmart, the world's largest company (and retailer), are recognizing just how much successful stores contribute to their overall success by rewarding (our fancy word for 'compensating') their store managers accordingly. From a talent perspective, this move 'raises the bar' and should enable Walmart to attract, develop, and retain the retail industry's very best performing store managers while simultaneously forcing its many competitors to respond.#retail #retailer #talentacquisition #storemanagers #compensation #totalrewards

Something different for today. I found this quite interesting: Walmart recently made a bold move - offering store managers total compensation packages up to $500k annually. This strategic investment tackles turnover challenges (industry-wide) and recognizes the critical role of store managers.New packages include increased base pay, stock grants, and high-potential performance-based bonuses. But it seems to be taking off, attracting top talent, better retention, and motivation (good for those GMs…have you seen the size of those stores?). But, will it improve the bottom line? It will be even more interesting to see what other big box retailers do, and will similar top-pay benefits trickle down to other retail and hospitality companies.I guess time will tell.It should be fascinating to keep an eye on this. Were you as surprised to see this as I was? Check out the full story here: https://lnkd.in/gxmfniyU
