Besides making a strong comeback in terms of price, the queen of cryptocurrencies is also setting stunning records. If it’s not the BTC whales that are busy stocking up, it’s the number of transactions recorded on the blockchain that are soaring.

In a recent release, CryptoSlate highlighted a new record set by Bitcoin. More specifically, it is about the number of small BTC hodlers that has just surpassed the 50 million address mark.
This explosion in the number of addresses belonging to the Plankton cohort, that is, those containing an amount greater than or equal to 0.01 BTC, is intriguing some analysts. Initially, it’s worth noting that the number of similar addresses was only 37.5 million a while ago, according to the latest statistics.
But the frenzied rush towards bitcoin by the small hodlers has led to the addition of approximately 1.6 million addresses in just 30 days.
As for the quantity of BTC addresses with a balance more than zero, the 50 million mark has been surpassed.
Yet, in November 2017, that is six years earlier, these crypto wallets were only at 25 million. That’s half of the 50 million mentioned recently.
