How do you pass a skills assessment test? ›

The PI Cognitive Assessment is a validated workplace assessment that takes only 12 minutes to complete. It measures critical cognitive skills such as problem-solving and critical thinking, which are important for predicting success in new roles.

Multiple choice, open-ended questions, and pre-recorded video responses are all great ways to see if a candidate has what it takes to do the job well. But, do candidates enjoy answering these types of questions?

Basic skills tests are a cumulative name for tests intended to assess basic math and verbal skills (sometimes additional skills will also be tested, such as mechanical or clerical aptitude, depending on the position).

For each correct answer, you get a point, so the maximum score for the standard version is 50. Surprisingly, the average score is only 21 out of 50. Even finishing it is a challenge--only 2-3% of test-takers finish the exam!

Skill Checks have a chance of triggering whenever a Survivor is performing specific interactions. In order to succeed a Skill Check, Survivors must press the Secondary Action button once the pointer is inside the highlighted area, also called the Success Zone.

Generally, a score of 60%-80% indicates a basic knowledge of the subject being tested with scores above 80% indicating an advanced knowledge of the subject being tested. However, simply because a candidate scores less than 60%, it does not follow that the score is unacceptable.

The Mini‐Mental State Examination (Folstein 1975), or MMSE, is a simple pen‐and‐paper test of cognitive function based on a total possible score of 30 points; it includes tests of orientation, concentration, attention, verbal memory, naming and visuospatial skills.

Hiring managers have to take into account the results of failed pre-employment assessment tests, especially if they feel these candidates are a great fit and should still be considered. While it's possible to lower cutoff scores, one must apply this new standard to all applicants.

If you receive a negative outcome for your skills assessment, you can apply for a reassessment with a change of occupation. To request a reassessment with a change of occupation, you must submit your application within 90 days from the date of the original assessment decision and pay the fee.
