The upscale developing edge city of Ballantyne, North Carolina is situated on the southside of Charlotte around 10 miles northeast of the Catawba River. The community is easily within commuting distance; itâs just 17 miles from Ballantyne to downtown Charlotte. Ballantyne is in Mecklenburg County along the South Carolina border and nestled between Provincetowne to the southeast and Pineville to the northwest. Ballantyne is also just a 20-minute drive from the Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT). The main road through the community is 521 Johnston Rd which connects to I-485 Outer and Governor James G Martin Fwy. This provides quick and easy transportation to the rest of the city.

The land encompassing Ballantyne was originally used as a large hunting tract which was owned by the Harris familyâ descendants of the former North Carolina Governor Cameron Morrison. Ballantyne was founded in 1992 and established in 1995. Thanks to John Harris and Smoky Bissell, Ballantyne became one of the first master-plan communities in Charlotte.
