9 Differences Between Ark: Survival Ascended And Ark: Survival Evolved
Ark: Survival Ascended and Ark: Survival Evolved are two separate games, but what makes them different from each other?
Although there have been lots of changes, the most exciting thing about Ark: Survival Ascended is the addition of four boss fights, which are some of the most challenging and fun parts of the game. This list will talk about all of these bosses in detail and tell you how you can defeat them.
4 Broodmother Lysrix
Requirements to open the Broodmother Portal | Gamma | Beta | Alpha |
---|---|---|---|
Player Level | 30 | 30 | 70 |
Artifact of the Clever | 1 | 1 | 1 |
Artifact of the Hunter | 1 | 1 | 1 |
Artifact of the Massive | 1 | 1 | 1 |
Argentavis Talon | - | 5 | 10 |
Sarcosuchus Skin | - | 5 | 10 |
Sauropod Vertebra | - | 5 | 10 |
Titanoboa Venom | - | 5 | 10 |
The Broodmother is a massive spider-like creature that can be extremely deadly if not dealt with caution. Its primary method of attack is letting its small spiders or Araneos loose on you. It can also slow you down by attacking you with its webs or using its ranged acid attacks. Although it is a dangerous boss, if you know the right strategy and have the right gear, then this fight shouldn't be too hard for you.
The most common strategy to defeat the Broodmother is Rex Rushing, as it is the best way to cause damage while minimizing the risk of taking much. You can also try attacking it with some Megatherium or a Yutryanus, as they are some of the best fighting mounts in the game and the Megatherium also does extra damage against insects.
The Broodmother and the Araneos can inflict Torpor damage on you that can make you vulnerable and more likely to pass out or die, so try dodging their hits as much as you can.
3 Megapithecus
Item | Gamma | Beta | Alpha |
---|---|---|---|
Player Level | 45 | 65 | 85 |
Artifact of the Brute | 1 | 1 | 1 |
Artifact of the Devourer | 1 | 1 | 1 |
Artifact of the Pack | 1 | 1 | 1 |
Megalania Toxin | - | 5 | 10 |
Megalodon Tooth | - | 5 | 10 |
Spinosaurus Sail | - | 5 | 10 |
Therizino Claws | - | 5 | 10 |
Thylacoleo Hook-Claw | - | 5 | 10 |
The Megapithecus is a giant yeti-like monster that is similar to a Gorilla. This creature is one of the easier bosses in Ark: Survival Ascended alongside the Broodmother and should be the boss you look to fight early on in the game. Its main form of attack is spawning the Mesopithecus and Gigantopithecus, which can swarm you if not careful. It also throws large rocks that can unmount you, so try to dodge them as much as you can.
There is a large hole close to where you will find the Megapithecus that can cause instant death.
Make sure to keep your creatures far away from that area, as plenty of players have lost their entire tribe to it.
Rex Rushing is a strategy that always works against the Megapithecus, mainly due to its low HP. You can also try to use a pack of Allosauruses with mate boosts or a Deinonychus, as it can inflict bleed damage, which is super useful against these bosses. You will also need to have Fur Armor or high Fortitude stats, so you don't freeze to death during the fight as the arena is cold and can cause Hypothermia.
2 Dragon
Requirements to summon the Dragon | Gamma | Beta | Alpha |
---|---|---|---|
Player Level | 55 | 75 | 100 |
Artifact of the Cunning | 1 | 1 | 1 |
Artifact of the Immune | 1 | 1 | 1 |
Artifact of the Skylord | 1 | 1 | 1 |
Artifact of the Strong | 1 | 1 | 1 |
Allosaurus Brain | - | 5 | 10 |
Basilosaurus Blubber | - | 5 | 10 |
Giganotosaurus Heart | - | 1 | 2 |
Tusoteuthis Tentacle | - | 5 | 10 |
Tyrannosaurus Arm | - | 5 | 15 |
Yutyrannus Lungs | - | 5 | 10 |
The Dragon poses a much tougher challenge than the previous two bosses. It is not only massive, but also capable of wiping out all of your tames with its fire-based attacks. The fire breath of the Dragon can rip through any armor and its fireballs are great at dealing AoE damage. It can also summon its minions in the form of Pteranodons and Dimorphodons, both of which are also very hostile and annoying to deal with.

You will need a better strategy to deal with the Dragon as Rex Rushing will not be of any use. The main tactic for fighting this boss should be trying to surround it with all of your creatures and focusing on attacking its backside. This strategy will also help you steer clear of its AoE abilities as it won't be able to hit all of your Dinosaurs at the same time. Items such as Calien Soup as well as high-level Ghillie armor are helpful in this fight as the arena is very hot.

Undoubtedly The Toughest Boss In Ark: Survival Ascended
The Overseer can only be taken on after defeating all the other bosses in the game. This is one of the most interesting creatures in Ark, as it can take the form of the Megapithecus, the Broodmother, and the Dragon. The journey through the Tek Cave will have made you weak, which will make this fight even tougher. The Overseer attacks through its Defense Units and Attack Drones, but it can also take the form of other bosses and possess some of their abilities. It also has some other AoE laser attacks as well as a stun ability.
The primary strategy for this boss fight should be to attack the Overseer with most of your tames while leaving some to focus on the Drones. Bringing plenty of Yutyrannus and Therizinos is recommended for this battle and you can also bring two Daeodons for their healing ability. Tek equipment is also important for this fight, and it is almost impossible to beat the Overseer without it. Recipes such as Medical Brews and Sweet Vegetable Cakes will also help you out further.
