I've typed it and copied and pasted my serial number from the "About this Computer" section and it is rejected as "not valid" every time. This computer has never been repaired or had any problems.
My wife is trying to find her Apple ID for her mac, and she typed her serial number in order to get support to help her and she also gets "invalid serial number" message.
Why does apple make life so **** difficult???

- The wrong serial number of the MacbookHi! When I enter the confirmation of the serial number of my new Macbook into the Apple support system, she writes that the number is incorrect. My Macbook doesn't show up among my Apple devices. Even the old phone is displayed, but not my new Macbook. The store said that this is a problem on the part of Apple. And there are many more such cases. I bought it in the store from an authorized dealer. Tell me what to do?[Edited by Moderator] 3102

Log into My Apple ID using the Apple ID in question.
Probably the same password will work as was used for logging into this site with your question.
Look for " Devices " as per first image
Second image will list all Registered Devices.
Click on the problematic device and the Serial Number will be listed

Well, sort of!
I had a previous computer in a shop for repair, and they caused damage to it. The shop purchased a new computer from Apple and replaced the one they damaged. So, no, I didn't buy it at apple, but the shop did. I got it still in the box.

I think if you read my original post, you will see that two computers, my wife's and mine, were purchased from to places, and both DO HAVE SERIAL NUMBERS, but the Apple Support page is rejecting them. I've spoken to a support person on the phone, and she said there must be something wrong with the login form because she checked both our serials and they are indeed valid and belong to our two computers. She verified it by "shadowing" each of our computers. That means, we gave her permission to see our computers remotely from her side and each of our serials was visible. I get a lot of speculative answers and one from the support person, but no one seems to know WHY this form is rejecting valid serial numbers.
I hope no one asks me in this thread if the serials are valid! I've explained this twice.

The fact the Serial number of this problematic computer:
1 - Is being rejected
2 - The Serial Number does not appear as Registered to the users Apple ID Account
3 - The apparent fact the Serial Number is Not Visible or this specific machine in the users' Apple ID Account
This would suggest something is really Off with this specific machine
What that is who knows ?

One thing that can cause the problem is hitting the enter key after the serial # instead of just clicking the button.

It's possible then that the serial number was never registered under your Apple ID.

I will repeat, it is TWO separate macs that are experiencing this in two locations. Not one "machine"!
