Head to Crimson Mirelands
To reach Lake Valor, you need to head to the Crimson Mirelands. When you speak to Volo and either Irida or Adaman here, you learn that the Lake is protected by Azelf.
Your Arc Phone will beep and reveal the entrance to Valor Cavern to let you in. Once inside, you'll be faced with an Alpha Overqwill to fight before Azelf appears.
How to Prepare for the Battle with Alpha Overqwill
Alpha Overqwill is a Dark/Poison-type Pokemon. This should make it weak to a number of different attacks including: Fairy, Fighting, Ghost and Steel.
Answer to Azelf's Trial
When you’ve beaten the Alpha Overqwill, Azelf will appear. Instead of asking you questions it will ask you to throw balms at it
Try to throw a few balms and you’ll soon see it’s difficult to do. But don't give up when it asks you to. Instead, just keep throwing until it's asked if you'll stop a few times.

Then with one final throw, you'll hit Azelf. This will result in you getting the second piece needed for the Red Chain, Azel's Fang.
Leave Valor Cavern
After receiving Azelf's Fang, you want to head back to the hideout so you can depart on your third and final trial - The Trial of Lake Acuity.
