How To Increase Your Chance Of Catching Ditto In Pokémon Go
How To Catch A Shiny Ditto In Pokémon Go
Ditto easily ranks among the rarest and most difficult Pokémon to catch in Pokémon GO. The shapeshifting Pokémon does not appear in its true form in the wild; instead, like other depictions of Ditto, it hides as another Pokémon. This can make Ditto extremely difficult to catch, especially if you do not know what the Ditto could be hiding. To find and catch a Ditto, it is essential to know all potential Ditto disguises.
Similar to its depiction in television, movies, and other video games, Ditto is a tricky Pokémon to catch in Pokémon GO. Ditto is known to have a set number of Pokémon that it can appear as in the wild, but this list of potential disguises several times per year. Many features update regularly, such as Raids, but Ditto’s disguise rarely changes. Although players cannot know if they are facing down a Ditto in disguise, you can at least be looking for these known alternate appearances for the Pokémon.

All Ditto Disguises In Pokémon Go (June 2024)
For June 2024, Ditto has seemingly not gained or changed any potential disguises in Pokémon GO since the previous month. This month, Ditto can be up to 11 different Pokémon, spanning generations one through seven. Before venturing out to catch your own Ditto, you should first know that Ditto has a much lower spawn rate than all 11 Pokémon that it can disguise itself as. This means that if you are looking at an Oddish, it is more likely that it’s just an Oddish rather than a Ditto in disguise.
Ditto disguises do not change as often as other monthly timed events, so keep an eye out for the Pokémon listed below and try to go to areas with high spawn rates for those Pokémon.
Dittos generally have a minimal spawn rate compared to the average Pokémon. If it’s your goal to catch a Ditto, you’ll need plenty of patience and Poke Balls. Ditto can appear as the following Pokémon: Oddish, Koffing, Rhyhorn, Goldeen, Spinarak, Bidoof, Numel, Gothita, Solosis, Stufful, and Bergmite. Whenever you encounter any of these Pokémon in the wild, try to catch it, as this could be a Ditto. The Ditto only makes itself known after it's been caught, so you’ll likely spend quite a few Poké Balls in this endeavor.

How To Increase Your Chance Of Catching Ditto In Pokémon Go
Ditto is undoubtedly among the more difficult Pokémon to catch in Pokémon GO, if nothing else but for its incredibly low spawn rate. Although you ultimately will need some luck on your side to find this rare Pokémon, there are several steps that you can take to aid you in this process and increase your chances of catching a Ditto.

Pokémon GO allows players to trade Pokémon, which effectively transfers them to others. Pokémon GO does not allow players to trade back, though.
The best way to do this is to use Regular or Daily Adventure Incense. This will increase the number of Pokémon that spawn in your immediate area, potentially including Ditto. Note that there is no way to distinguish a Ditto-version of the Pokémon from the regular spawn, so you’ll need luck and patience on your side.
Although rare, Dittos are not particularly as useful as other Pokémon. Dittos cannot be used in PvP events like Battle League or against Team Rocket. Dittos can also be used in regular Gyms.
Lures in Pokémon GO are another incredibly beneficial tool for attracting Pokémon in Pokémon GO. If you are at a PokéStop, you can use a lure to attract wild, rarer Pokémon to your area. This won’t last forever, as Lures only go for up to 30 minutes.
This is an excellent way to potentially attract a Ditto if you are with a friend. If one person in the lure area finds a Ditto, then that will be the disguise all Dittos in the area currently use. Aside from Lures and Incense, you can also try to complete Special Research projects. Although not common, Dittos are sometimes known to appear as part of these projects.
How To Catch A Shiny Ditto In Pokémon Go
Finding a Ditto is hard enough, but catching a Shiny Ditto in Pokémon GO is even harder. Visually, there is little difference when comparing a regular Ditto to a Shiny Ditto. The Shiny Ditto appears as blue instead of pink. Shiny Dittos can appear as part of Special Research or are randomly spawned.

Just like the regular version of the Pokémon, the Shiny Ditto can appear in disguise as any of the Pokémon listed above. You can use the same methods to attract Ditto, such as Lures or Incense, but there is no way to attract specifically Shiny Dittos.
Ditto is an incredibly rare Pokémon in the wild, with Shiny Dittos even more elusive. It is estimated that one in every 64 Dittos you find in the wild will be Shiny Dittos. Given how few and far between, you could be on the hunt for quite a while.
Your best course of action is to monitor Special Research projects and watch for Shiny Pokémon rewards, which could include a Ditto. Hunting down specific Pokémon in Pokémon GO is often a test of patience, and although there are methods you can use to increase your chances, you will ultimately need luck as well.
