What does it mean to have an advocate personality? ›

INFJ (Advocate) is a personality type with the Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, and Judging traits. They tend to approach life with deep thoughtfulness and imagination. Their inner vision, personal values, and a quiet, principled version of humanism guide them in all things.

Sometimes referred to as the "Advocate" or the "Idealist," people with this personality type often feel misunderstood. Perhaps that's because INFJ is the rarest MBTI personality type, making up only 1% to 3% of the U.S. population.1 Or maybe it's because they're walking, talking contradictions.

INFJ, also known as the advocate, counselor, or idealist, is the rarest type of personality in the general population. It represents about 1.5% of the general population in the United States.

INFJ Weaknesses

Sensitive to Criticism – INFJs are often averse to criticism, especially if they believe that someone is challenging their most cherished principles or values. When it comes to the issues that are near and dear to them, people with this personality type can become defensive, dismissive, or angry.

We all have different opinions of what an advocate may be. My personal definition of an advocate is a person who believes not only in themselves, but most importantly believes in the person they are advocating for. An advocate is there to protect you and is someone who can be brave with you when you need support.

Examples of being an individual advocate for others: Helping an elderly neighbor figure out local shuttle and bus schedules so she or he can continue to live independently without driving. Contacting school officials after learning a child was bullied at school.

Sadly, INFPs ranked the lowest for happiness as well as the lowest for life-satisfaction.

For male INFJs, that number is around 1.2%, and for females, it's around 1.6%. (Source). That puts the ratio at 1.33:1, meaning for every 3 male INFJs, there are 4 female INFJs.

INTJs, often considered as the most successful personality type, go by the names Mastermind or Architect; fitting descriptions for this personality type. They're analytical, observant and open-minded. INTJs balance carefully between the big picture and the little details needed to achieve global goals.

Our nonjudgmental, understanding, encouraging, supportive nature is attractive to many, although it's usually pursued selfishly, and a deeper dive into our entirety isn't sought.

Why is INFJ so special? ›

INFJs possess a deep understanding of human emotions and have a strong desire to help and support others. This unique blend of empathy, intuition, and sensitivity sets them apart from most of the population. If you are ever in need of a good friend that will listen and understand your struggles, find yourself an INFJ.

INFJ tends to have the highest IQ scores along with INTJ and INTP. Intelligent levels do not affect the INFJ personality type but are more a result of the INFJ personality type functions.

This approach does not work for INFJs and INFPs because we are neurodivergent. A high percentage of INFJ personality types and INFP personality types are working with ADHD or are on the autism spectrum. All INFJs and INFPs are highly creative and gifted, which means that we need to approach focus in a different way.

INFJs' only true enemy is themselves, or more specifically, their inner critic. However, some personality types may be difficult for INFJs to get along with including: ESTJs: They are often seen as being too blunt, dominant, and insensitive for INFJs.

Is INFP a rare personality? Yes, the INFP personality type is considered rare, as it makes up only around 4-5% of the general population. This introverted, intuitive, feeling, and perceiving type is known for its empathetic nature, strong values, and creative approach to life.

An INFJ should consider marrying an ENFP or ENTP. Both of these personality types place a high value on social life. This can help the INFJ gain confidence and social skills. They will also discover the more sociable side of themselves.

Advocates help to do what is best for the people you represent and need to be extremely empathetic to the situations involved. As an advocate, you may need to keep information confidential or know when to report certain types of information to authorities or involved people.
