When my husband and I got engaged in 1987, we began a 12-month savings plan, so we would have enough money for a down payment on our first home. It meant a year of frugal living on $67 a week… eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in the park everyday for lunch and rarely going out to dinner. We did it! Over the years our salaries rose, and we slowly lost our frugal living ways. Then, nearly 15 years ago, I left my job to stay home with our 3 children, and our household income was cut in half!

Of course, I didn’t want to change our lifestyle and more free time meant more time to shop, but how would shopping be any fun without money? I quickly discovered that the stay at home mom job description included more than just play dates… I was now the CEO of the family and also the maid, the cook, the coupon queen and yes, the bargain shopper.

So, my life on a budget began, and I created this website to share money saving tips with other stay at home moms. I’m not a financial planner or an accountant, but I’m a money saving expert because I’m a mom that knows how to live the good life on a budget.
