The Premier Bank for Emerging Economies
The New Development Bank (NDB) is a multilateral development bank established by Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS) with the purpose of mobilising resources for infrastructure and sustainable development projects in emerging markets and developing countries (EMDCs).
Our strong mandate and potential put us in a unique position to contribute to global growth and development.
Overview
Working hand in hand with our member countries and stakeholders, we leverage capital for development purposes to accelerate economic growth, as well as to achieve environmental and social sustainability to improve the lives of people in our member countries.
Infrastructure
NDB strives to act as a catalyst in bridging the gap between the availability of financial resources and the growing needs of our founding members and EMDCs.

Sustainability
At NDB, sustainability is at the core of our mandate. We seek to ensure that all projects financed by the Bank are implemented in a sustainable way and their ESG impacts are assessed, minimised and mitigated during project implementation.

Our General Strategy for 2022–2026 sets the course for our evolution into a leading provider of solutions for infrastructure and sustainable development for EMDCs.
