If you collected Pokémon cards in the '90s, now might be a good time to pull them out after a rare first edition Charizard No. 4 card sold Thursday for $336,000.
The Charizard No. 4 card, first released in the U.S. in 1999,was given a PSA GEM-10 grading, a perfect mark. Only 121 other cards have been given that rating, according to Jesus Garcia, Heritage Trading Card Games consignment director.
The auction sales nearly hit $3.8 million with other cardsthat included aPokémon First Edition Base Set Sealed Booster Box and a rare Yu-Gi-Oh! Minerva card.
Garcia told USA TODAY that over the past few years the demand for rare Pokémon cards has increased, as well as the price.
"Back in 2018 that card was worth $25,000 and now goes for upwards of $300,000," he said.
