5 Jobs That Allows You to Travel the World and Grow Your Bank Account – JUIE DESAI (2024)

Have you ever wanted a job that allows you to travel the world? I know I sure do! Ever since I was a little girl, I never saw myself chained to a desk working 9-5 from Monday to Friday in one location. Instead, I’ve always wanted to just take my laptop and travel all over the world, while still managing to receive bi-weekly or monthly paychecks. Sounds like a dream right?

Luckily in this day and age, it is certainly possible to make that happen. Below are 5 jobs that allow you to travel the world and grow your bank account at the same time, with examples of people who are actually doing that.

1. VIPKid

According to the VIPKid website, VIPKid is an online teaching and education company. The organization allows you to set your own schedule and teach wherever and whenever you want in Canada or the US. The lessons are already created for you, and it offers competitive pay. The pay starts from $14 – $22 an hour with incentives. Also, you don’t need a teaching degree to apply, any bachelor’s degree will be accepted.

I came across a blog post called Happily Ever Travels, and they claim that VIPKid paid them $917.25 for the first half of May. The pay is bi-weekly, which means they have a potential to get paid $1834.50 or more depending on how many classes they teach. Not bad right?

2. Destination Wedding Photographer

If you are already a wedding photographer, then you have a great advantage. You can accept clients from all over the world and take photos of their special day. Also, you can charge quite a bit and have the client pay for your travel accommodations.

I came across a 23-year-old destination wedding photographer named Grace Torres on CNBC Make It. She claims that she makes $177,000 a year! On her booking page, she already posted her destination wedding schedule for 2022 / 2023, it includes: Brooklyn, New Jersey, Salt Lake City, Delaware, North Carolina, Zion National Park and more.

3. YouTuber

This one is a no-brainer, but I still wanted to mention it. Being a YouTuber allows you to work from anywhere in the world, and you get paid for sponsorships, Google Adsense, affiliate links, and more.

You can start a YouTube channel doing anything you enjoy, such as: product reviews, travel vlogs, knitting, skin care, hair care, fashion, and more. I personally think this is the most flexible job out there right now, along with being a blogger. It allows you an abundance of creativity, and if you’re good at it, there really is no limit to how much you can make.

I follow a YouTuber named Luke Korns, and he posts vlogs and mini documentaries of him travelling the world either on a budget or in search for the meaning of life. He used to make 6-figures from his videos when he was 19 years old, however, he stopped posting for a year and a half, and the YouTube algorithm didn’t prioritise him anymore. He recently started posting regularly again and I’m sure the YouTube algorithm will be back to normal eventually. However, it’s great to see that he’s travelling the world and connecting with so many people. You can check out his story here if you’re interested.

4. Blogger

Speaking of bloggers, I think this is a good segway into it. Similar to becoming a YouTuber, a blogger can write about anything while travelling the world. It can be about: cooking, making money from side hustles, home decor, fashion, travel, and more.

The way to make money from this is very similar to a YouTuber, it’s through Google Adsense, sponsorships, affiliate links and more. However, a blogger can earn 3x more than a YouTuber because they’re able to put so many ads on their page, some even have 15! While a YouTuber can only add 3 or so in one video.

According to CNBC, Michelle Schroeder-Gardner makes $760,000 per year in passive income from her blog, Making Sense of Cents. She started her blog in 2011 to pay off her student loans. Now she’s able to retire whenever she wants with her husband and is only working 10 hours a week. The rest of the time, she’s travelling full-time on a sailboat. How cool is that?!

5. Travel Photographer

Last but not least, you can become a travel photographer. Since you’re already travelling, you can take photos on your camera and create a travel photography blog, teach photography courses on YouTube, sell prints on any stock image website, send your images to travel magazines, sell presets, and more.

I follow a travel photographer named Emmett Sparling. He travels all over the world, takes travel photos and works with many different brand deals. He also sells his lightroom presets to his 900,000+ followers. I’m sure he’s doing very well for himself while living out his travel dreams.

Overall, there are many other ways to make money while travelling, these are just a few. Let me know if you’ve attempted any of these hustles or if you tried a different hustle altogether. It’s great to see that there’s hope for us who want to travel full-time and grow our bank accounts at the same time, and not be expected to come into the office 5 days a week. In fact, some of the hustles I mentioned above can be businesses themselves where once you start receiving a decent monthly income, you can hire freelancers to help you grow your business.

Whatever you choose to do, keep hustling! You’ll get there!
