Baia’s Wine is a hidden gem in Georgia, offering an exceptional wine tasting experience. The family-owned winery provides a homely atmosphere with warm hospitality and a tour led by the parents. Visitors can indulge in an extensive spread of local food and savor exquisite wines while enjoying the company of their friendly dog, Bingo. The unassuming winery boasts sophisticated wines that rival those from other renowned wine-making regions.

Nest natural wines from Imereti. Super friendly family and amazing hosts. Madloba 🙏

Wine tasting was wonderful! Paired with traditional Georgian appetizers. We learned a lot with the owners of the winery. They speak perfect English.Wine tour was great! The house and room was big and clean. We had the best time!

Amazing wine, extremely friendly and welcoming hosts - a highlight of our trip to Georgia.

Last day of our trip we checked out from our hotel and visited here before heading out to the Kutaisi airport .Best decision ever! You can easily spend 6 hours doing their tour, eating the huge spread of local food, tasting exquisite wine from them (Tip: make sure to buy wine from them- the duty free wines are unreasonably over priced) and taking walks around the village .The kids had so much fun playing with their super friendly dog Bingo .This is a hidden gem.I wish this family all the very best!

We had a great stay here. Bakhva and Tamara provided us with tasty food, wine and great company. They do their job with passion and the result is delicious! We had an interesting tour and discovered lots of winemaking details.I can definitely recommend visiting this winery, this was one of the best experiences I had in Georgia.

A very atmospheric place where you can meet wonderful people. The owners are very nice , hospitable and they talk about their vineyard with great passion.A lot of knowledge, great fresh food and of course an unforgettable tasting.Thank you for the feast!

We spent an evening and a night at Baia’s. Overall experience was just terrific. Excellent evening. We were served with traditional Georgian food, more than we can ever stuff ourselves with. Food were great, fresh ingredients, and the Imereti Kachapuri is just the best we had so far.Wine and cha cha, UNLIMITED!!!The room with shared bathroom is decent and clean, not extraordinary but it is what we would expect for guesthouse style.Best thing at Baia’s is the hospitality of our host which made the visit and stay brilliant.

Kornjan T — Google review

A welcoming family, an amazing meal (in fact the best I have had in Georgia so far), family history & museum of wine making and of course - a really tasty wine. Highly recommended!

Renata T — Google review

Amazing hospitality by the nicest family you'll meet. We turned up slightly unexpected and were instantly welcomed and shown around, told about the history of the winery, tasted some of the wines and fed soo much amazing food that we could barely eat half!! Really recommend as it is genuinely a once in a lifetime experience.PS Bingo the dog is a great dinner guest too

Levente N — Google review

Had an amazing day yesterday at Baia's Wine, the best winery in Georgia hands down! Located in the stunning region of Imereti, it's a must-visit spot for any wine lover. Seriously, the wine there is out of this world! If you're ever in the area, do yourself a favor and swing by. You won't regret it

A place you would never want to leave!Beautiful family winery with at least 5 generation long history, held by people that remember and truly respect their national heritage.Hospitable hosts that are open to explain every singe point of wine-making technology and business.Great selection of wines and chacha to try, and outstanding home-made dishes you would never get elsewhere.Absolutely recommend and will come back on any occasion.

We had a great time in this winery run by Baia and her passionated family. Everything in the place was amazing (room very comfortable, nice and relaxing garden) and of course the food and the wine were fantastic! Highly recommended

Mattia P — Google review

We came for the wine tour/tasting and traditional imereti dishes, and we received so much more. Baia has the kindest people producing some of the best wines I have sampled along with equally delicious food. If you are visiting Kutaisi, or even Tbilisi, and the finer things in life you should definitely make the trip.

Guy P — Google review

Baia’s family was very friendly and host us on very short notice, the food and wine was an amazing experience and during wine tour we learned a lot about organic wines, we really felt the authentic Georgian hospitality. Can highly recommend!

Sofie Š — Google review

It was a nice experience. Though I think September would be the best time to visit as grapes will be fully grown and we can see the wine making process. We were there end of june and it was a good experience as the place is nice. The host explained the process of wine making but there were no activities as it was not season.

Ajay V — Google review

Already did a few wine tastings, but this was by far the best experience I have had. The tour was done by the parents, the mom is learning English and did a very good job explaining everything! It gave a very homey feeling, their dog Bingo also kept us company. Felt just like arriving in a very warm house. The food was amazing, come hungry! They give a lot of very good home made and organic food. The wine was super good, we bought 4 bottles to bring home. Thank you for this amazing experience!

Tahnee N — Google review

We were hosted extremely well, really nice people. We've had shota (traditional georgian dinner) and tasted their wine. One of the best wines we've had in Georgia and the food was organic and really well made. Highly recommended, but schedule with them beforehand.

Peleg E — Google review

Without doubt among the best wineries of this country. Its kitchen is also superlativo.

Attila N — Google review

We visited Baia Wine farm for the tasting experience. The winery is unassuming but the wines are as sophisticated as its' counterparts in other wine-making regions. Their origin story is incredible and worth reading up. Through their success, the family remains humble and the homestyle experience of being hosted is like being welcomed by old friends. The 'snack' served with the tasting is typically Georgian and the wines smooth and well-rounded. 5/5!

Located on Mount Kanobili, the E. Kharadze Georgian National Astrophysical Observatory was established in 1932 and is a hub for astrophysics and astronomy research. Visitors can enjoy clear views of the stars and planets, with regular tours available. The observatory's main focus is on studying galaxies, stars, solar physics, the solar system, and Earth's upper atmosphere. It houses a 40 cm telescope from Carl Zeiss for observing celestial bodies.

Oldest telescope in the entire Soviet Union 🔭🏚️Georgia is the home of this 1937 german-built telescope which has survived the decades and is still somewhat functional... I say somewhat because you really cannot use it to see far away planets galaxies are nebulous today buuuut the building that houses this bad girl is quite beautiful and fully functional. The doors open. The roof rotates. The floor climbs and descends 🤘With the 10 Lari tour in the museum you can see some actual meteorites as well as several other smaller telescopes. The ride up here on the motorcycle is exquisite with brand new pavement on crazy twisty George asphalt goodness 🇬🇪🛵💨It's not always possible to get a tour to this bad girl but if you're lucky enough to show up at the right time at the right place with the right people I can report back the juice is definitely worth the squeeze 👌👌👌

Abastumni astrophysical observatory is located in Abastumani township, Adigeni municipality, Samtskhe-Javakheti region, 1700 meters above sea level. It was founded in 1932. The observatory's main areas of scientific research are the study of galaxies, stars, solar physics, solar system tubes and the upper atmosphere of the Earth. In 1934, a 40 cm telescope of the Carl Zeiss company was installed in the observatory.

Nino M — Google review

First high altitude observatory in the tsarist Russia offers options to use one of their old telescopes to stargaze for a short while. Truth be told, I think this location (since the amount of light pollution is very low) could be used much better and the stargazing could be better organized. Accomodation in the buildings nearby is pleasant enough.

Jan C — Google review

I had a great time in Abastumani, miracle forest which makes you feel like in a fairytale , I can't compare this forest of any other in Georgia. Observatory trip was just amazing, highly recommended.

Vakh Z — Google review

Very nice place to visit !Just be aware of a few things before you come : opening hours for the tour are from 9PM to 3AM. If it’s cloudy you will see nothing through the telescope which is sad, check the weather forecast. It’s better to call before to book your visit. If you just show off maybe the scientist will not be available. Visits are only in Georgian or Russian, no English unless you call before to book the tour ! The price is 100GEL minimum for a tour if you are alone (or 2 persons). If you are more than 5 persons, it’s 20GEL/person for everyone except students (cheaper but I don’t know the price).Enjoy your time there in the stars !

Gwendoline M — Google review

Do not wait expectations, that you will see the anything interesting on Mars from the Observatory's Telescope. But the environment and the staff there are very interesting .

Akhaltsikhe (Rabati) Castle, also known as Rabati, is a massive double-walled fortress complex dating back to the 9th century, with most structures built in the 12th century. The Georgian government invested heavily in its reconstruction in 2012. Situated at the crossroads of ancient trade routes, it's a major attraction dominating the landscape.

It is a must visit place in Akhaltsikhe if you're near the area. The drive from Borjomi is smooth. There is a ticket for entrance to the castle. The views from the towers is amazing. Simply loved it. Must visit if you're interested to see old architecture. The castle complex has an old church and a mosque for the time of Ottoman Empire.Once you enter the amazing walking area you feel like being transported to medieval times, they have well kept gardens and fountains. The Marble structure remains so cool even on a hot summer day, one can sit there and bask in the sun whole day long. There is free parking space available too. There are some cafes and restaurants inside. Souvenirs can also be bought here.

Rabati Fortress, Alkhaltsikhe, Georgia: Georgia city is full of old ruins, churches, fortresses, palaces – some lovingly restored, some left to abandon. If you haven’t had your fill, Rabati Fortress can be added to your list. It’s most recently restored, so it’s lost a bit of its old faded romantic charm. We only combed the fortress and gave the Alkhaltsikhe castle as miss. This where the Turks ruled for 200 years so hence the mosque built within the compound. #eatstylishtravelstylish

Newly renovated complex with restaurants, shops and clean toilets near the entranceWorth a visit if you're in the areaPractically empty apart from 4-5 tourists when we visited during an October weekday just before noon.

Chi W — Google review

It was a wonderful experience visiting the Rabati castle. Also, the most interesting part is that you have a church and a mosque built in the same castle.

Siddhanth G — Google review

Its like disney fairytale, recomended if go to georgia to visit this place. The mosque and church is boring, but the view is breathtaking.

A E — Google review

The fortress dates back to 9th century however it has been renovated too much maybe because you won’t feel the oldness of the fortress. I would also recommend to read some history before coming before it’s not written everywhere. The fortress is still beautiful in my point of view and you can see Akhaltsikhe from the top. Definitely not the culture heritage you would expect but I still recommend coming here. Both mosque and church are both the most boring. Not sure why many are so excited about them.

Ekaterine ( — Google review

Well maintained fortress, for the greatest part rebuilt, but that truly shows how the Georgians are keen on welcoming visitors. The visit to the fortress is payable, 18 GEL. The rest can be visited for free. The whole environment is spot on, enriched with beautiful gardens, pools and fountains. We spent a good hour and a half for a peaceful visit with barely any tourists.

Andrea M — Google review

At the crossroads of ancient trade routes between Turkey and Armenia in the south and the Georgian kingdom in the north lies Akhaltsikhe (Rabati) Castle, one of the most beautiful sites of the Samtskhe–Javakheti region. According to the Georgian Chronicles, Lomsia Castle ("Lion Castle") was founded in the 9th century by Guaram Mampali, a prince of the Bagrationi dynasty. In the 11th century the castle was destroyed by warfare, but in the early 12th century the castle was rebuilt by Bashken II Jaqeli, expanded into a real walled city, and the name was also renamed Akhal Tsikhe ("New Castle"). Capital of Samtskhe-Saatabago, sieges by the Mongols, annexed by the Ottoman Empire, Akhaltsikhe endures it all, flourishes and even grows. After the Treaty of Georgievsk (1783) between the Kingdom of Kartli and Tsarist Russia, the possession of Akhaltsikhe was disputed by the Ottomans and the Russians, but it was not until 1828 that the Russians managed to conquer the castle. The state of the castle is so deplorable at the beginning of the 21st century that the Georgian government will carry out a thorough and professional restoration and renovation in 2011-2012. The result: a magnificent citadel with a very varied architecture that is absolutely worth a trip!

Points of Interest & Landmarks

This felt like a time warp back to the Soviet era! The cable cars are tiny and pretty run down (don't look through the holes in the floor!). They run pretty frequently though (when full) and they're free! Most of the lines have been decommissioned or are under renovation but this station has two of the still operational lines. A really unique experienc. Take the time to explore the abandoned buildings at the top.

J C — Google review

It was my best experience in Georgia! I loved the whole town, the abandoned-looking concrete buildings on the top (people actually live there though... Crazy), the scary blue cable car, the gloomy women working at the station, the poor kids smoking cigarettes and asking for your money... Well they were not so lovely.

Szilvia P — Google review

Very exciting place to be! The clock stopped there few decades ago. However, the most cable cars lines in Chiatura are already being replaced by a modern one! We found only three out of original seventeen.

Veronika R — Google review

This was a beautiful place. Probably my best memory I will have of Georgia. These rides are used by the locals daily and they were very friendly.Take the ride up, and explore the Soviet-era buildings.Only seven people per ride and waiting time for each was 10minutes.There are a few other cable lines around Chiatura, go and spend some time exploring them.Secret tip: rides were free! They did not even take any money when offered.

Mojojoedwards — Google review

This is where the two well known cable cars are. One line has the circular windows, the other is the one with the painting of a man (inside the actual building). Both are free. For the one with circular windows, you can go up and open the doors yourself. For the one inside the building, someone will come with a key and open it. You can get a taxi to bring you here from Zestafoni for 45 lari as of March 2019 with stops at the pillar monastery (~4h). Really cool day trip.

A W — Google review

It's great fun to ride with the old cable cars. Totally worth to stop by. Highly recommended.

Thomas H — Google review

A throwback to Soviet times. The cars themselves appear in poor condition but keep connecting Chiatura. Few tourists venture here but are made to feel welcome. One of the top experiences in Georgia.

One of my favourite monasteries in Georgia. Lovely, partly hidden in a cave, rock-hewn complex. To get inside you have to climb long, steep staircase. But this architectural masterpiece makes it worth.

Karolina Z — Google review

It is worth a visit. There is a climb from the level of the road (probably about 60 m vertical elevation) but the path is easy to navigate if you are not frail or elderly. The cave where the altar is, is refreshingly cool in summer. Entrance is free.

Mgvimevi Monastery is located on a mountain on the outskirts of the city of Chiatura. Was built in the XIIIth century. The main cave in the rock is 35 meters deep.

Kakhi K — Google review

Mgvimevi convent is from the 13th century. a monastery located in the valley of the Qvirila River. Driving along the mountain road along the huge cliffs, the monastery suddenly appeared in the ridge of the rock, the walls of which were illuminated by the evening sun. I pulled into a gas station and talked to a local resident to figure out how to get there and see this beauty. We were shown a narrow path with steps leading to the top of the cliff and the climb began! To get to the entrance door of the monastery, you had to go up narrow metal steps, but the further way to the monastery led through a tunnel cut in the rocks. The main prayer cell of this monastery is located in a naturally formed cave. The cave also has its own spring, which constantly flows from its ceiling and flows underground. I saw such a monastery for the first time in Georgia. There is also a church with ancient 13th century buildings partially built into the cave. wall drawings. This inaccessible monastery was used as a place of refuge by people during medieval wars. This monastery is admirable both for its powerful energy and for its unusual location and architecture. If you are interested in seeing the ancient holy places, then it should definitely be included in the sightseeing itinerary. I'm excited about what I saw!

Mtsvane Monastery, located near the village of Chitakhevi, is a serene medieval complex nestled in a forested valley. This historic site is associated with the disciples of Grigol Khandzteli and holds great significance in Georgian history. The 9th-century monument features three basilica-type churches and a two-story bell tower adorned with characteristic Georgian architectural carvings.

Beautiful and peaceful... If there are tour buses full of people around. You can park below the gates or you can drive all the way to the parking lot near the Monastery. Beautiful paintings inside and a lovely monastery. Grounds were wonderful for walking and the stream was an added bonus.

Mtsvane Monastery, also known as the Green Monastery, is a serene and historically rich site nestled in the lush forests of Borjomi. This ancient monastery, dating back to the 9th century, offers visitors a peaceful retreat surrounded by beautiful nature. The area is renowned for its mineral waters, providing a refreshing experience. The lovely forested landscape enhances the tranquility of the monastery, making it a perfect spot for reflection and relaxation. The combination of its historical significance and natural beauty makes Mtsvane Monastery a must-visit destination in Borjomi.

An amazing church with a wonderful spirit! Nestled in the forest on a hill between Borjomi and Akhaltsikhe, it is well worth a visit. The area is calm and not crowded, and the priest is very pleasant. The church, with a history dating back to the 9th-10th century, was renovated a few years ago and features stunning icons.

Green Monastery This monument of the 9th century, according to scientists, is a famous Georgian figure, St. It was built by the disciples of Grigol Khandzeteli - Christopher and Teudore. It consists of three basilica-type churches and a bell tower, where the carvings characteristic of Georgian architecture can still be clearly seen. The church is contemporaneous with the foundation of the monastery and dates back to the middle of the 9th century. It is built of rough stone and has almost no decoration. The bell tower has two floors, the first floor is a chapel, and the second floor is a richly carved fanchatur.

Nino M — Google review

Lovely quiet place not too far from Borjomi. The walk to the church grounds leads through a beautiful old forest. The path is clear and good for strolls. The church itself is rather charming with a small bell tower and remains of excavated older construction. Inside the church you will find beautiful modern icons.

Karolina Z — Google review

Amber autumn is especially beautiful there, though, at any season, the monastery, nestled between mountains is a place of peace

Khati K — Google review

Disappointing due the the attitude of the priests. A person was carrying a child of perhaps 7 years because the child is severely mentally and physically disabled. The child dribbled on the stone floor and the 3 or 4 priests made this into something that drew the attention of everybody in the church. The adult carrying the child and friends or family with them left and indeed I left then too because I was ashamed of the treatment. Nice church but unfriendly and unwelcoming so-called holy people.

(Translated by Google) Atmospheric, cheap place. The balcony overlooks the river. Nearby is a park, a mineral water spring and the entire tourist center. The general toilet (you can’t call it a toilet) evokes sacred horror and awe before the power of the working Soviet people))) plus there is no hot water in the kitchen. On the plus side: all linen is washed and ironed and 2 towels are provided free of charge. The ceilings are 4 meters high, it’s shabby, but anyone who wants to remember the union is welcome. Personally, I was satisfied, despite the above.(Original)Атмосферное, дешёвое место.

Nature & Parks

Borjomi Central Park is a serene oasis nestled in lush evergreen forests, offering a refreshing escape from the summer heat. Visitors can relax on benches under ancient trees, explore playgrounds and rides with their kids, and savor the renowned Borjomi water from the mineral spring. The park features well-maintained gardens, walking paths, and various recreational facilities for picnics and leisurely strolls.

Situated close to the city centre along the Borjmula river, the national park has numerous picturesque setups that catch your attention. A small park with fun activities such as rope climbing is present within which didn't function in winter during snowfall (in March) but might be a recreation hub in the summer. With an entrance fee of 5 gel per head, it is quite fun to visit on summer than in winter.

Bhakti S — Google review

The place is nice and good for easy strolls. Next to the gate there is an old bottling factory with some cool photos inside. The door is open so you can just walk in.To say that, they currently charge 15 gel one way for the cable car. Totally not worth it. The ride is short and not very scenic. The pools entrence fee is now 10 gel. Still worth it. Its a lovely walk and the water is warm enough (mind it - those are not real hot springs. The water is about 30-34 Celsius degrees.

Karolina Z — Google review

A wonderful place to spend a few hours with kids. Many fun/luck games (not included in the entrance fee). For adults you can spend here a hour or two with a relaxing romantic walk in the park and follow the path alongside the river.

Borjomi Central Park is a delightful blend of natural beauty and historical significance, offering a rejuvenating experience for all visitors. Famous for its mineral water springs, the park allows guests to taste the renowned Borjomi water straight from its source. The park is set in a picturesque valley, surrounded by lush forests and rolling hills, providing numerous walking paths and scenic spots to relax. Highlights include the charming Ferris wheel, the beautiful waterfall, and the mineral water pavilion. The park's well-maintained trails and facilities make it accessible and enjoyable for everyone, including families and individuals with disabilities.

Nassim B — Google review

Beautiful place to visit all year round. The cable car is working too (but it’s outside of the park and costs 5 gel one way). The park itself is really cute place to go. In summer there are attractions for children too. These are not accessible in winter mostly. When trying out the Borjomi stream, do not expect the same thing you get in the bottle :)) this is warm and smells like… mineral water 😄 it’s not for everyone. I haven’t liked it much personally. Yet it’s really worth visiting.

Samuela D — Google review

Great place to spend some time in nature in the heart of the city 💚🌱Perfect for✔️ hiking and easy walks✔️ taking a hammock with you and some healthy snacks and drinks for a picnic✔️ drinking natural mineral water from the springs (take as much as you want, locals normally bring their own bottles)✔️ taking cable car to enjoy the views of the city and mountains (10 GEL one way for foreigners, 6 GEL for locals)✔️ sulfur baths✔️ fun activities for kids such as zip line, rope climbing etc.Things to consider:✔️ As you might know there are a lot of stray dogs in Georgia. In the evening they gather in the park.✔️ The entry is not free, but sometimes it is, especially in the morning, as business normally starts at 11 am in Georgia 😂

Evey — Google review

They charge Gel 5 as entrance for tourists. Nice place to see the greenery all around. Also, just beside is a world war era cable car that takes people from here to the top of the mountain. The park is not recommended to visit during winter season when it’s snow because it will be all slippery and the rides inside will be closed.

Waqar H — Google review

Fantastic placeWe like it, and you can try the teleftike also.Nice view from over the berg, lovely and amazing.Don’t miss to visit this place. And there are nearby bazar and market that you can buy from there lovely memory things about georgia.Really i love it and i recommended to every one want to visit georgia.Enjoy it

I went at the time of Orthodox Christmas, and it was beautiful. The park was filled with snow and it was very cold. The place is very nice with natural mineral water river. There were Christmas decorations on the entrance and the atmosphere was really nice. I really recommend visiting here when you come to Georgia. Recommended 5 Stars!

Borjomi Central Park is a part of heaven, with numerous varieties of trees and fresh air encircling you from all directions. Other attractions include the bridge of love, the river, pomegranate juice vendors, and a plethora of smiles and children's laughter. If you are experiencing the stresses of life. I suggest that you visit this location in order to accumulate a significant amount of positive vibes.

Ph T — Google review

Definitely, a winter wonderland for kids and families.Everything you see is white! It was really a nice experience! Not all attractions are free.Unfortunately, most of the attractions are closed. Some of the amenities are also covered with snow.

Amazing place... well maintained... beautiful location with trees all over and river flowing next to them... there is also a public Sulphur bath pool near the park... in evening there is a small amusem*nt park for children.. there are also local market outside the park... very refreshing experience...

Amazing park with a view full of green and waterfalls. The air is so fresh and climate is perfect for taking a walk throughout the entire park. Locals are welcoming and friendly. The water has a sulfuric taste and smell, pretty unique to the area.

A waterfall is worth seeing. The ticket to the park is 5 GEL. One can have a cup of warm mineral water if they want.

Klemet- T — Google review

A park located in the midst of the city. Entrance fee is 5 GeL. There are loads of activities for the kids to have fun. Adults can have a quiet walk by the park avenues and relax. There is a mineral spring, where you can get a cup and drink it- tastes like sparkling water with a load of gas and smells a bit weird. There is one beautiful stream running in the midst of the park, the sound is very relaxing there. The park was built by the Russian kings, our guide said, and was used to be their summer park. There is a cable car also, which I didn’t go.A nice calm park to spend time

Sangeetha P — Google review

Water in this central park js better then free water before park, but entrance fee is 2 gel for citizens and free for people over 65 but again it works if you’re citizen.I think entrance is 5 gel for non citizens but im not sure, but it’s definitely worth to come and drink water, carry water bottle with yourself and do not close the tap after getting water, sometimes there can be waiting queue to drink water. But it tastes amazingWill be back in this city

Ducking F — Google review

Baffling reviews, normal park like you’d find it in any city with the big difference that it’s packed with all kinds of souvenir shops, kids rides and food stands. Feels more like a fair than anything remotely connected to nature or a relaxing park experience. The „highlight“ being the Prometheus statue and waterfalls were even covered by a construction site. So unless you’re looking for mediocre tourist priced food, no interesting flora or a place packed with playing kids (which is fine if it would be advertised as such) - don’t come!

Felix — Google review

Beautiful place and peaceful surroundings with some good restaurants and shops. Nice panorama view and chilling forest. Blood sucking road to waterfall. Overall quite adventurous experience

Irfan F — Google review

Famed for it's mineral water which smells obnoxious and tastes absolutely awful, this park makes for a pleasant outing. There is an outdoor activity area for children and a winery. There's an entry fee.

Janaki R — Google review

This park in borjomi has some Souvenir shops and also the main area from where you can hire ATV or SUV and go to see the lovely waterfall and stream nearby. The ride is adventurous. The crowne plaza borjomi is situated right in the middle of this park and there is also an area where you can get to taste the borjomi mineral water directly from the source.

Heaven !I have never ever seen such a beautiful place called Heaven. It’s amazing place to spend time and walk there. Borjomi mineral water park dates 1850 and famous touristic destination in central part of Georgia . You can ride a famous cable car as well. There are little shops run by very kind Georgian ladies who sells home made jam , handmade craft and honey , you can buy from them, very trustworthy and honest people .

Nihan A — Google review

Amazing nature and scenery. The park has a long walk on the sides of a beautiful river, and a waterfall falling down from the tip of a nearby mountain. It is hard to find a car parking space so better come early in the morning, otherwise there's a long walk to enter the park (then a long walk inside). There is a halal restaurant inside and the park is well maintained and has great facilities.

Borjomi, Georgia: The least favourite of our Rabati-Vardzia-Borjomi trip, this was a terrible waste of time. Once a thriving mineral thermal bath town thronged by the rich Soviet who’s who, it is a decrepit rundown resort town with a ticky tacky amusem*nt park. It’s a shame the entrance fee charge doesn’t go towards restoring the park. We literally thought we are in a bombed-out forest in Ukraine (it’s next door). The water tastes really bad, even though it’s meant to be curative. We, amongst many tourists, retched put the free water. #eatstylishtravelstylish

The Central Park in Borjomi is huge and has a lot to offer! Starting with the negative, there is an entrance fee of 2 Lari (when you come at night it's for free nobody checks there) and it for sure needs a little makeover as deeper you go into the park. Also in winter it's not glowing like with all the greens during better times of the year! Also there are many stray dogs which can be annoying even though I like dogs! The list of the positives is in my opinion higher. There are few waterfalls and it is laying in a valley between two high mountains. You can walk far in and check out thermal baths and drink/fill up the sulfur smelling mineral water at a different place which is supposed to be having healing energy (I personally wasn't a fan of it). There is a great river going through and the sound of water is possible to hear everywhere. You can also have many possibilities to sit down and enjoy nature. You can ride a cable car which is quite high prices and there is a big playground for kids which wasn't open when I was visiting. It is possible to do camping there for free which was my favorite. You for sure check it out it's worth it in my opinion

Quite humid in winter, not as much snow as in Bakuriani though. Nice place to escape from the polluted city. There are a lot of hiking trails. Not very touristic, logistics are not the best. The train goes here once a day with no schedule; you should ask locals.

Officially, the figure of the hero at the rock in Borjomi Park is called the "Prometheus monument", however, many Georgians are sure that the sculpture depicts Amirani, the legendary hero of the Georgian epic "Amiraniani", whose story is similar to the Greek legend of Prometheus.

Fortress

Sights & Landmarks

Perched atop a rocky hill in the center of Gori, Kartli, "Gori Fortress" offers panoramic views of the city and its surroundings. Dating back to the 13th century, this historical stronghold played a significant role in medieval times as a military bastion. The fortress features stone terraces and lookout points that once served as defense against Mongol, Ottoman, and Persian invasions.

Old fortress, which is dilapidated and only has the original walls left. Great panoramic views of the city and surrounding countryside

Andrew O — Google review

There's not much to see, but if you have some extra time during your visit or after touring the Stalin Museum, you might consider spending some time here. Although it may not be a major attraction, it can offer a peaceful break from the more crowded tourist sites.

Jiranuwat S — Google review

Spectacular from below yet besides the very bored security guards there is nothing to see when on top (well there are view to admire)...

Bartosz — Google review

Nice view from up the fortress after a small, simple hike. There is not much left to from the fortress. Its basically just a big grass pitch and some walls. Still enjoyed going tho.

Maximilian S — Google review

It's an original yet abandoned fortress. The only thing it offers is just a 360° view of the surrounding, but the underneath city is quite depressing so ... not worth the visit

Andrea M — Google review

A really beautiful dive into Georgian history. A defensive fort that protected the land through many battles. It’s windy at the top (and especially on rainy days) so take a big strong local to keep you from blowing away.

Stephanie R — Google review

Its renewed up until the entrance. Inside the wall is only grass and a dog:) I was excpecting some info screens and so on. It has so much potential to develop turisticaly.

Ga?per Z — Google review

Nice view over the city and fortress ruins -however, definitely not a must-visit, if you don’t have enough time, no need to walk to the top :)

Kat K — Google review

There's not much going on here at the fortress, but the city view at the top was nice. My friends and I came here and took a lot of pictures of the city. The steps are okay. Not too heavy of a hike. The top of it was guarded when we were there. Overall, nice view. We spent like ten minutes and it was done.

JIJEESH U — Google review

Free to enter, just clim the path. Good view across the city, but not much else to see. Also the sculptures at the bottom are interesting as well.

Fractional S — Google review

I enjoyed this location the most compared to other places. It’s a little abandoned and not very renovated to be even more interesting but I really loved to see the city from the top. Maybe depends on the weather but really liked how nice the city looks during the autumn. Yes, it’s a little old and depressing but reminds many Georgians of old good days when you spent summer in the village. That’s why it might not be for everyone.

Ekaterine ( — Google review

Of course it's just the ruins, and they are refurbishing some of it, so there's no access to some parts.Butnthe view from up there is great, specially at sunset. The walls from outside, also stand still, and look great. It's nice quite tour, and it's free.

Joao V — Google review

It is a gorgeous historical place. But with a touch of reality today, loads of garbage, street dogs. The view is amazing, the place itself a little bit dissapointing

Alexandra M — Google review

Good place to watch out the small city Gori.I recommend it especially in summer 😎 no tickets needed.

Hosam S — Google review

If you want to have the best view of the city and of the Caucasus mountains, Gori fortress is the best place. It has a great medieval history as well.

Zura B — Google review

Gori Fortress you can’t really miss it as the location is in the center of town on top of a hill. After stopping for a quick bite, we were off to find the entrance. Walking around the bottom of the hill we finally found a pathway that looked like it would take us to the entrance. There is no entrance fee to visit Gori Fortress. You walk up a staircase that leads you up to the gate where you enter. I’ll be honest there is not that much to see. The only visible signs of the fort are the walls, which are impressive. No buildings are within the walls of the Fortress, making it difficult to imagine what it may have looked like in its glory. The views from atop of the hill are truly incredible. You can see out over the city and far into the surrounding countryside.3btraveler

Specialty Museums

The Stalin Museum displays an assortment of photographs, artwork and mementos from the life of the infamous Communist Party leader. However, it does not strive to provide a fair and unbiased account of Stalin's career or actions. Instead, it remains a tribute to the Gori native who played a significant role in world history during the 20th century.

An interesting place to visit if you are into the Soviet era history. Lots of photos, letters and other artefacts. And not to forget Stalin’s train coach. Our guided tour (in Russian) was very informative and educational, many thanks to the very professional guide.Allow up to one hour for your visit.Tours in English language are available too.

Olga — Google review

Created in Soviet era, this museum is a nice example of Stalin's empire style and Soviet Culture of that time, as well as propaganda. However, we were lucky to get to a tour with local museum guide and I have to admit that the excursion was very informative and interesting. They totally understand that most part of the exhibit was created by the culture of propaganda. They also tried to expand the exhibit with new information related to repressions. But currently the process of renovation of the exhibition is frozen, unfortunately. My personal opinion is that together with the exhibition of Soviet occupation, which is located in the National Museum in Tbilisi, this museum will help you to create relatively fair picture of what were happening during the Soviet's era.

Polina V — Google review

Outside of main bldg is his train car and house where he was born/lived at young age. Inside the main bldg, a museum expo is upstairs. 3-4 large rooms with a lot of photos of him and people around him. Unfortunately, very little in English. You better read Georgian or Russian. He was a handsome young guy. What happened?

LYBE S — Google review

Stalin doesn't mean much to me as an Arab, but I found his story and the museum quite interesting. It's important to get a guide though. Also because most descriptions are in Georgianand Russian, and there are lot's of pictures that require lots of context.

Afnan A — Google review

Pro-Stalin museum. There are a few collections of things he used and many other items without information in English. Entry is 15 GEL per person. All and all took us 20-30 min to walk through. Most signs don’t have English, only in Georgian and Russian. The facility appeared to be well maintained. Not sure how well a story of his life is told as not much information is in English.Visited on a Friday afternoon in May. No line.

Lei F — Google review

Definitely worth visiting if you happen to ride through the city or stay here for a couple of days. But would not recommend planning the trip solely to visit the museum because it has no objective history in it, just a glorification of his deeds as a revolutionary and a leader of the USSR.P.S. I want to stress the word "solely", Gori is a beautiful town and has a lot of things to explore nearby; take Uplistsikhe as an example.

Danil M — Google review

“Stepping into the Stalin Museum in Georgia was like journeying through a time capsule into the complex legacy of one of the most controversial figures in modern history. The museum, located in Gori, meticulously documents Joseph Stalin’s life, from his humble beginnings in the small town to his rise to power as the leader of the Soviet Union.Ticket- 15 GLEThere was a rail road train which was open for tourists but was closed when i visited with no reason from the management

We actually did not enter here instead walked around the beautiful park and checked out the world war era model train. Visitors who do not wish to pay and go inside can take some lovely snaps on the corridors which has huge columns and provides great background. Also the city centre is walking distance and I would I surely recommend to visit

Indradeep R — Google review

Not a fan of Stalin but history cannot deny the relevance of the man. Interesting to get a bit of insight and learn a bit more about him. The museum is quite large and includes the house he grew up in, the actual museum with many artifacts and his personal train. Unfortunately the day we were there, there were no English guides and many of the explanations were in either Georgian or Russian so we had to use Google Translate but was worth visiting.

Arnold K — Google review

If you’re into history and lucky enough to reach Gori in search of history then this place would give you so much more than you think.A lot of aspects, history and incidents hidden in just one place. This review would be very short to explain this place.Just go there and explore. Look into my pictures and videos for a clear idea what you gonna find there.

Waqar S — Google review

Very interesting museum featuring Stalin's birthhouse. The train wagon used to take him to Yalta to sign the treaties ending WWII, and the actual museum featuring many items from his days as Soviet ruler. Worth the stop. The beautiful Castle and Fortress is just a 5 minute walk from the museum.

Some interesting pieces but no real story being told. Mostly just pictures with a very brief description. Interesting to visit nonetheless

Walter H — Google review

Really tough to give this museum 5 stars because it is the worst museum I've ever been to, but that's why I'm still recommending going there. The museum itself should be in a museum. Let me explain:The building is like a time machine that takes you back to the Soviet Union. After paying 15 GEL per person, you get to see how the Soviet Union brainwashed people, even glorifying a monster like Stalin. There's a wild mix of photos, paintings and some statues. If you get lucky enough to see an English translation, you'll still have a hard time to understand it because the translation is bad and there's little to no context. So make sure to listen to a podcast about Stalin or read an article about him before you go.The museum leaves out lots of the important parts of Stalins past. Like him being a gangster who was the mastermind behind a robbery in Tbilisi that left 40 people dead.I wanted to learn about him killing millions of people in gulags and executions but had to ask because instead I only saw paintings showing him as a hero and all people loving him. The employee pointed me to a very small room downstairs, which barely talked about anything bad he did.Make sure to also visit Stalins armored train outside. An employee unlocked it and we walked through. He was afraid to fly so he even took the train to the Potsdam conference. One of the most bizarre and factually incorrect museums I've been to. But it's so bizarre and false, it makes it worth a trip.

Dror H — Google review

The museum is nice for those who can’t google to find the information or search for some images of that times. There is too much unnecessary stuff in the museum. A lot of repetition and boredom. 15 lari per person is a huge overprice. The WC’s are just as horrible, like buy a normal toilets already. Also the museum smelled like a cheap homemade soup and the staff was randomly gossiping or watching some Facebook videos in various areas. This creates zero atmosphere.

Ekaterine ( — Google review

It is a dark part of our history. But we need to understand and not to forget it so we can learn from the mistakes of the past . It’s amazing that this part of history is preserved and it’s a must visit for everyone. Great museum and well laid out and easy to follow

Interesting place, all about Stalin. Audio tour was unavailable, but still good to walk round some of the labels are in English as well as Russian and Georgian.

It's nice that the park and Stalin's apartment buildings are freely accessible. The museum is fiction. Regardless of how Gori pretends to be proud of the legacy of the former dictator, I would expect the house to be accessible, renovated and maintained.

Jakub V — Google review

Just a collection of pictures on the walls. It was interesting to find out some facts, but overall not so involving. The old house was closed for entrance.

Stalin's Museum offers a comprehensive look into a significant era of history. The exhibits are informative and well-curated, providing insight into Stalin's life and impact. Stalin’s personal train is also located next to the Museum building. Entrance 15 GEL per person. Videography is not allowed inside. However, photography is allowed. While the exhibits are informative, the value for money could be better.

If you are looking for an unbiased perspective on Stalin, you won’t find it here. The narrative is primarily pro Stalin and lacks depth. If you are familiar with the history of Stalin, you won’t learn anything new - the guided tour is one hour long all key events in Stalin’s life are covered superficially. The museum contains various depictions of the key events, copies and originals of the official documents and press, and Stalin’s personal items.

Stalin museum, GoriThe Soviet leader Joseph Stalin was born in Gori, Georgia, where this museum is located. This big museum holds about forty thousand articles associated with events, achievements, and memories of the life of Stalin. The house where he was born is also a part of the museum. Travellers are allowed in groups led by respective guides. An important place to visit for those visiting Georgia.

✅️ the museum is divided into three parts :1) museum building tell all about Joseph Stalin and it is considered a historical museum of socialist.2) Stalin's house (all house raised, real)3) Stalin's private train✅️ is considered a museum that presents great history, especially the whole Stalin house lift. It's very shocking and impressive.✅️ free toilet✅️ inside information is all in Georgian. There is no English at all. There should be a guide, tell the story, otherwise there is no way to understand.⭐️ satisfaction : 🌟🌟🌟🌟

The stalin museum: a monument to a man with the second highest body count in recorded history. Not someone you should be glorifying so take this places approach to Josef with a grain of salt. Its a short museum but they have some nice, authentic items such as coats that he wore or desks he sat at

Emiel F — Google review

The best place to learn Stalin's life and struggles to reach the top echelons of the Soviet Politburo. Must see is the lifesize monument of the dictator, as well as his official train car. The museum offers also a rare insight of his childhood, the "stalinism" principle, his memorabilias. Entrance to the museum is for a fee. Cashless transaction available.

Must place visit for communist loyals.. there is a stalin museum which has photographs , books and all details during the course of life of Joseph stalin. Also you can see the old house where stalin lived within the same garden walls of the museum. There is also an armoured train bogie which used to be used by stalin during his prime days.

Damu M — Google review

A visit to the Stalin Museum was a fascinating experience that shed light on one of the most turbulent periods in history. The museum tells in detail about Stalin's life and how the Soviet Union was shaped. However, my visit here gave me a better understanding of why Stalin is seen as an evil figure in history. Millions died under his regime, many were persecuted and countless families were torn apart. The museum presents this dark history in an objective way, giving visitors material for reflection. Historical sites like this are important to avoid repeating the mistakes of the past.

Kaan S — Google review

The museum is on life of Stalin, from childhood to his death. Must visit with a guide, which is included in the entrance ticket. Otherwise it won't be interesting. The house where Stalin was born and lived for 4 years is right opposite to it. The train coach which was used by Stalin is part of the Museum.

May 2024Stalin .. some admire him and some don't.A huge roof built over Stalin's house for protection. The house is closed for viewing. There is a status of Stalin not far from the house. And a small garden to enjoy the weather.Oh, also a train carriage on display. That's open for viewing.Time required, less then 30 mins.

I don't know much about Joseph Stalin before visit museum and after listen & introduction by guide I read more about Stalin...This museum show only the good side of Stalin start from his parents, home town, start work, how he be part of communist, world war 2 and until his dead. It's interesting as poor kid going to top of Soviet who win world war II but didn't show his bad side of historical...

Interesting place for the history lovers. I recomend having a tour guide otherwise you just might get lost in staring at pictures and sculptires without knowing their meaning. Very less of the stuff are translated in english. The price of the ticket is 15gel.

Теодора С — Google review

The museum is not very big. It displays Stalin’s life from birth to the death. The exhibitions have descriptions in Georgian, Russian, and English. You can also visit the house he grew up in before he moved to Tbilisi and his train car that he regularly used for traveling as it was a bullet proof car.

Kae — Google review

Good place to experience the history. Unfortunately the place is very small for the price you pay. Taking photo is allowed inside whereas taking video is not allowed, well maintained. you can buy tickets from the counter at the ground floor.

Uplistsikhe is an archaeological site that contains the remains of a rock-cut town that dates back to the Iron Age. The town, consisting of caves and other structures carved into the rocky landscape, offers a unique glimpse into ancient Georgian history. It is possible to visit Uplistsikhe as part of day trips from Tbilisi, along with other nearby attractions such as Mtskheta and Gori or David Gareja Monastery.

Very exciting place. Ancient caves and pretty view. Can be considered as a light trekking. On the top of the hill there's a deserted church. If you travel with a little baby, don't bring a stroller here, it's not possible to go up with it

Anastasia ( — Google review

Just the view from above can’t describe how great it felt to reach the top.A wonderful place to walk but requires you to be prepared as it’s slightly slippery and require you to have less weight carried to ease the process.Avoid during the rain and try to make sure to carry a water bottle to stay hydrated.

DKQ — Google review

Worth visiting. For me an actual landmark was not as interesting as the abundance of lizards there and stunning nature around it.Also I was very pleased by the quality of tourism here, usually Georgia sucks at making their heritage approachable for foreigners, but here I did not encounter a single beggar nor rude person, rather a very good public infrastructure like a cafe where you can purchase a cup of decent coffee, free clean toilets and bins everywhere.Extra thanks to the designer who picked moderate colors for infrastructure elements so it does not steal your sight and attention from the landmark 🔥

Danil M — Google review

Two ticket types. 15 and 20 lari(with wine tasting). Very nice place with unique history and very beautiful hills. Prepare yourself some warm clothes and hat, it is extremely windy out there.

Anzhelika V — Google review

Nice area.Worth stopping by if you are in the area instead of a similar attraction near the Turkish border.Ticket cost 15 gel. Or 20 gel with wine tasting at the end of the rout in a small nice winery. Go for the 20.

Guy M — Google review

It was a great experience to know the history and culture of ancient Georgia how they live and how the protected themselves in this fortresses. Just a reminder, of you are afraid of heights, you can always turn around. But if you really want to explore the caves, you have to go all the way up, they have signs to guide you to the the exit on the opposite side of the fortress. It's great to explore every corner of it, helps you to build your appreciation with ancient history of Georgians who live in caves.

Rich B — Google review

History geeks, assemble! This place is for you.The site is exciting to look at, I was lucky to get a wonderful guide who passionately explained the life of the ancient civilization found on the site.We could see the queen chamber, the commoner chamber, the ancient wine making system, and the underground jail (it will activate your claustrophobia when you look at it, but my my it is wonderful to look at).Oh, did I forget to mention that the view from the top of the site is *chef's kiss* top notch!! There's a church on the bottom of the site as well.

Suciani A — Google review

The view is nice but the town itself is nothing surprising. There are no explaining signs anywhere. Might be more interesting with a guide. The wine tasting in the end was decent, the wines are great and the ladies explain the Georgian wine process well.

Uplistsikhe is an ancient rock cave town, one of the oldest settlements in the Caucasus. It is an enormous cave city near Mtkvari River in its north side. It has a beautiful view with stone caves. I loved it that how this structure is maintained so well. There is a cathedral too on the top. I would recommend everyone to wear comfy clothes like jeans or track pants & sports shoes while visiting this place as it would be helpful to climb & walk through this landscape.

Bushra G — Google review

It's an unbelievably amazing place. Mystical. There is a place at the top; you must see the sunset from there. It's better to have time and feel and observe everything well. There are legends that there was used laser weapon in old times and because it melted. When you see the place, you believe that there was something unexpected happened. So enjoy.

An interesting site with the ruins of an ancient town. There is some light "climbing" involved, so wear good shoes. It was windy on top, but it was over 35 degrees warm when we visited, and therefore we didn't stay for very long. Basic fee 15 Lari, 20 with wine tasting. Audio tour guide available, and you can also book a private tour with a guide.

Linda P — Google review

Moderate climb maybe takes 20-30 mins to reach at the top.Shouldn't be an issue if you don't have any joint pain issues. The view at the top is good and nice to see history of people in Uplishtikhe. At the time entry price is 15 gel and for guide you get at 20 gel.

Suyash S — Google review

Out of all the cave towns in Georgia, this one is the oldest (2nd century BC). I've been here twice and I love it more each time. It can be windy so be careful when wearing a hat or other loose things. You can enjoy it without a guide but it would be better if you did a guided tour so that you get all the information about the different rooms. Be sure to wear decent shoes! You can pay a small amount to sample different wines and some chacha near the exit.

Brett H — Google review

Fantastic cave town to visit, it’s quite big and spent 2hrs there. On the top, you can visit a nice church and see very beautiful river Mtkvari view. Top is windy and cold, must wear jacket. When come down, just follow your right side and you come come out from a small tunnel.

Historical pllace with a spectacular view! When you walk up there's a lot of wind, so it's amazing to visit when it's a hot day.The path is easy to walk even though there's some places where you have to be careful.Even tho, absolutely worth it!15 Lari per person without an audio guide!

Aurėja M — Google review

It's like a Grand Canyon, you have to walk up by stairs and sometimes climbing the rocks so be ready for it. Up there was very windy and the wind carried dust into your eyes, so be carefulThere's also a wine tasting spot where you have to buy a ticket at the entrance first. The ticket was 20 Gel included the wine tasting. Worth the money and time.

Uplistsikhe უფლისციხე is an ancient rock-hewn town in Georgia 🇬🇪, offering a fascinating glimpse into history. It's a great spot for history enthusiasts and families alike, with many intriguing structures to explore 🏛️. However, the uneven terrain can be challenging for wheelchairs and strollers ♿🍼. A must-visit place for anyone exploring Georgia! I suggest getting a tour guide from the ticket office to enhance your experience.

Mohammed K — Google review

Most amazing site with stunning views and incredible history. You can truly imagine yourself in the time when the city was alive with people, animals, and unique way of life amongstthe rocks.

Alicia J — Google review

Nice view from the top of the hill. The monument is not well protected against damage. Definitely worth a visit. It's a shame that there are no sidewalks for tourists everywhere. You can see how the tourists have already trampled the footpath in the soft rock.

Jakub V — Google review

I loved it. It has that polish of reality unfortunately, with people writing on the wall of such a historical landmark. It is admirable, I recommend taking the guide for explaining every location, room and things there

Alexandra M — Google review

Last inhabitants left the place only in 1970s which may seem crazy but these caves used to be furnished rather well. The temperatures were in control, they had all the facilities they need, caves had the doors, hay flooring and beddings, it just looks like a stone age hotel 🛏️Take a guide or an audio tour for a full experience, otherwise you won't understand much what is what.We took a wine degustation too. It's 4 shots of wines with an explanation about the traditional processing, grapes etc. plus some wine snack like cheese and dried fruits, takes only 15-20 minutes but worth the 5 gel. The setup is nice too.

Vytautas M — Google review

A historical rock-cutout residence. The place is beautiful. We walked up the pathway and came back down through the secret tunnel. The entrance to the secret tunnel was hidden beside the big rock. It is no longer the secret as it became the tourist attraction, but it was used as a secret pathway in the past.

Uplistsikhe is a large cave town located in the Kvemo Kartli region of Georgia. It is one of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements in the world, dating back to the 6th century BC. The town is carved into the side of a cliff and consists of a maze of interconnected caves, chambers, and tunnels. Uplistsikhe was once an important religious and political center, and it is home to a number of important archaeological sites, including a temple, a church, and a royal palace. The town is now a popular tourist destination, and it offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside.Uplistsikhe is a must-see for anyone interested in Georgian history and culture. The town is a fascinating example of ancient architecture, and it is a great place to learn about the region's rich history. The views from Uplistsikhe are also simply stunning, and they make for a great photo opportunity. If you're looking for a unique and unforgettable travel experience, I highly recommend visiting Uplistsikhe. It's a place that will stay with you long after you've left.

It is an ancient rock-hewn town in eastern Georgia- approx 10 kilometers east of the town of Gori.Historically important site. A must visit for history or archeology enthusiast.Climbing into the top is a tough task. But you won’t repent once you see it from the top. A church is located at the top. And a wine-yard on the other side of the rock.

JIJEESH U — Google review

Very nice and unusual place, worth to pay it a visit. Needs around one and a half hour to visit the whole place properly. The ticket price is 15gel or 20gel which includes the ancient wine stellar. I wouldn't recomend it since people there are not interested to tell you how they make the wine but just sell it to you. Also noone is asking if you bought a 20gel ticket which looked exactly like a place only made to make money from the tourists.

An absolute must-see in Georgia. The caves are very impressive. There is a parking for 2 GEL and a nice cafe nearby as well. Count at least 2 hours to visit the complex.

UplistsikheThe rock cut caves of Uplistsikhe are located on the left bank of river Kura (Mtkvari in Georgian) some 11 Km east of Gori - Joseph Stalin’s village. These rock hewn dwellings belong to an era between the 2nd millennium BC and the 1st millennium AD. There are clusters of residential places, sacrificial altars, and wine cellers well marked in the cave complex. They say the nearby town continued to be inhabited until the 13th century AD when it was abandoned. Sun God was worshiped during those periods of what they call pagan religion. The Mongol invaders are said to have destroyed this important centre of trade and religion.Listed under the UNESCO world heritage sites these caves are vulnerable to damage by natural calamities as well as the vagaries of the weather. There was an earthquake in 1920 that resulted in considerable damage in the area. Concrete pillars, supports, and brackets can be seen supporting the vulnerable parts of the caves.I visited Uplistsikhe in April 2024.

Raj S — Google review

An amazing place, in a very beautiful and picturesque area. An ancient cave city, one of the first cities in Georgia. The city arose at the end of the 2nd - beginning of the 1st millennium BC. e., experienced several ups and downs, was finally abandoned in the 19th century and is thus a multi-layered archaeological site, one of the most important monuments of Georgian culture. The uniqueness of the monument lies in the fact that, thanks to its structure, it has preserved the remains of architectural and religious buildings built over several millennia.

Andrei A — Google review

A archaeological site soo beautiful, really amazed to see the ancient people made these so well planned like thousands of years ago like early iron age and even in the medical period. The landscape aound is very beautiful with a river flowing beside it.It was really worth it to know about the history and the way people lived here.Recommended to visit.

The Russia-Georgia Friendship Monument is a unique landmark located on the Georgian Military Highway, just a short distance from the Jvari Pass. The monument was erected in 1983 to commemorate the bicentennial of the Treaty of Georgievsk and symbolize the friendship between the Soviet Union and Georgia. The monument consists of a large concrete structure adorned with murals and mosaics depicting scenes from Georgian history. Unfortunately the beautiful monument and the history have ugly connection relationship and Georgians don't need any friendship with Russia or have any connection with them whatsoever. From the monument, you can enjoy panoramic views of the Caucasus Mountains and the surrounding valleys. The site is a popular stop for those traveling between Tbilisi and Kazbegi, and it is especially popular for photography enthusiasts.

Amazing panorama just before the mountain pass. Lots of vendors and facilities, very touristic. There's a russian "friendship" monument for Sakartvelo, although russia never been much of a friendly country towards the country, especially given its prolonged occupation and several wars in the last few decades. So you might see it ironic or satyr. The monument itself shows 200 years of "friendship", picturing a moisaic - sakartvelian images on the left, russian on the right, working socialistic people with identical faces because "everyone works, everyone is equal, everyone is happy".Make sure to take amazing pictures with yourself. There is a bench to take a poser pic but really cool.

My husband and I have been here twice with our friends and family. Potentially coming a third time for the spa. The Russian style bathing is a must if you haven’t tried it before. So relaxing and good for your health. Worth it with private rooms and the staff are very nice. The downside would be the uncomfortable seating/resting area in between sauna sessions and if you are over 6ft tall, you may be slouching a little.

However, visitors should be aware that the chair lifts stop working at 5 pm sharp, although there are night skiing options available on Fridays and Saturdays from 8 pm till 10 pm.

One week stay at this resort. So amazing and memorable experience. It’s so cheap, you won’t be able to compare it with any other European ski resorts. Similar experience for cheaper price. Highly recommended.

Gudauri is a pretty lovely place. It's quite a drive from Tbilisi, but you'll have a similar drive in any European resort. There's a pretty decent amount of skiing on offer, so there's plenty to keep beginner to intermediate skiers occupied. Advanced skiers can do plenty of off-piste skiing, but it may not be super challenging. There's only a few red and black runs, so you might not get your thrill on in Gudauri.I saw a lot of parachute experiences, which I must say looked cool (I didn't try it though). The runs aren't bad, but marking of the runs, signage and maps felt like they were in short supply. Lifts were fine, there's a gondola, there's a ski park, there's stuff for kids. Not bad.Restaurants were a bit hit and miss on the slopes, but generally not bad. There's a better selection in New Gudauri where the gondola start. The "free skiing" area over the back of the mountain where the gondolas go is quite lovely and long.We stayed in the Marco Polo and it was a pretty decent stay. Given pricing and what's on offer, I think we'll definitely be back in Gudauri in future and hope it will be constantly improving over time.

26.12.-06.01. - no snow. It’s forbidden to take ski or snowboard to lift them up in the cabin. But you can pay guys on snow scooters privately 50 Lari, they will lift you up with ski kit. Funny.

The ski paths could be better signalized, as is a place known to beginners. The park closes at 5 and from a day to the other closes at 4, so to enjoy you should go early. The rest was good. There is places to eat and drink. Cable carts have good maintenance.

Kimberly F — Google review

Brilliant place for even the first time visitors. Astonishing views and full of people ready to help you if need be. Just make sure that you are done skiing or snowboarding until 5 pm, as the chair lifts stop working at that exact time. There are also days of night skiing from 8pm till 10pm usually on Fridays and Saturdays.

Very nice ski resort, with plenty of slopes, lifts, restaurants, snowmobiles and ski rentals. However - 1. Very poorly marked - can't tell which level of slope you are entering into. 2. Even green slopes have red level segments. 3. Bottom mountain lifts have no backup power generator. 4. No clear marking of various location points, thus making it almost impossible to find a meeting point for newcomers. Even locals can't explain clearly. 5. There are taxi and ski training cartels, controlling prices and artificially upscaling them. In the past they even forcefully forbid foreigners to work, thus securing jobs for locals.

Gudauri ski resort is amazing! It's awesome because they have different ski slopes for all skill levels. Whether you're just starting or you're a pro, there's a slope for you.But what makes Gudauri extra special is the restaurants on the first terrace. They're not only great for taking a break while skiing, but they also serve really tasty food, and you get to enjoy it with the most incredible views of the beautiful mountains. Skiing and delicious dining with a view – it's a perfect combo that made my trip to Gudauri unforgettable. If you love skiing and stunning scenery, you've got to check out Gudauri

Limited pistes. Don’t know how they calculate total kilometers, but in reality there is 2 very short black pistes, would say max 1-2km, 2 red pistes, also few kilometers and whats left, everything is blue/green. Actually 2 days of skiing is more than enaught here. If there is no fresh snow, then not much to do at all. Slopes preparation is also not the best - stones or snow/soil mix on the lower parts is quite common, nobody cares, no signs, nothing. All slopes aren’t marked at all, we saw 2-3 signs for whole place. Good thing that there is small or no queues at the lifts, but nothing more :( Everywhere stand cars and rude taxi drivers which think that all the area belongs to them :( back to 90ies! When we tried to take our stuff to the car, these taxi drivers started shout on us, one of them even hit twice our car windows, he tried to damage our car on purpose! Never saw nothing similar. Roads are in very poor condition, everywhere huge holes, drivers drive without turn signals. Very low culture all around. In restaurants prices 2-3 times higher than in Tbilisi, quality of food mostly from middle to poor, they add 10-18% service fee everywhere even if service is very poor. Wouldn’t recommend this place at all!

Ernestas P — Google review

Great snow, good prices. The only downside: they don't clean the slopes everyday like other sites which increase the chances to catch an edge when skiing. Pay attention.

Most of the courses are blue, They are long which is great. It a good ski resort for biggeners and intermiddiate. One of the thing that quite annoying is that they open quite late. They say it will open at 10 but actually they only start the arrangements at that time so you actually start at 11 - 11:30.The Georgian food is very tasty. And there are good restaurants. Also recommended the Spa in Gudauri lodge.

Gal A — Google review

Very nice resort, has all the things needed for a ski resort although the pistes were pretty moderate even the red and black ones and they site are not that big. Great for beginners or for those who wants to go for a ski resort one a budget.

Ziv Y — Google review

Visited in November. There was not much thing to see, skiing-wise. Resort looks huge, so many hotels. Surface mostly soil, not big rocks, which is good for skiing. I would like to see in winter

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Gudauri Ski Resort, and it surpassed all my expectations! From their sublime environment to the stellar service they provide, I can confidently say that Gudauri offers an edge above many other skiing locations. The skiing experience was indeed, remarkable. Whether you're a beginner like me or a seasoned pro, Gudauri facilitates everyone. The professional and wonderfully patient instructors guided me through all the initial challenges, and before I knew it, I was skiing like I had never done before. The Quard bike ride added another exciting layer to our adventure! Riding through the breathtaking landscapes was an uncontainably thrilling experience. It was undoubtedly one of the highlights of our trip.Another distinctive attribute of Gudauri that stood out was its close proximity to dining options. Several fantastic restaurants, offering a wide range of delectable cuisines, line near the resort. The convenience of having quality dining spots so close was a big win for us.Gudauri Ski Resort is a complete package to have a perfect winter holiday. I wholeheartedly recommend this resort for an unforgettable vacation. Promising a seamless blend of fun, relaxation, and adventure, I'm confident it will exceed your expectations—just like it did mine!

The place is covered with snow, the most wonderful experience. Ski and snow games are the most attractive in this resort. For a day skiing costs 50 lari. Restaurants were not cheap and they were rude too. If you want to enjoy it I suggest you guys stay there for a day.

Manu S — Google review

A good ski resort but it is a bit pricey for what you get. Sometimes there are stones on the slopes or slopes might not be groomed. But there are a lot of places for freeride if you wanna get fresh pow

Konstantin T — Google review

I had an hour nice skiing with a guide. It was a bit expensive with a guide, priced at 200GEL. But I loved the experience. There are other activities such as snowboarding, snowmobiling etc. Great to see families having fun together with the joyous sounds and screams of kids

GIRUBA S — Google review

The station is of family size, welcome all types of guest from pro’s to families. The accommodations are all made in a way that doesn’t disfigured the mountains and landscapes, they come at every price and sizes. The slopes are brilliants and long, the prices are still great compared to most European stations, and we adored seeing people just using the lifts to go have a view with drinks or snacks up in the mountain, then come back with the lifts again. The quality of services, presence of police, windshield on some lifts, the large offer in terms of prices and choices of restaurants and coffees, it was all just brilliant !We had a wonderful, wonderful time here, the quality of the snow is undeniably one of the best. The launch party was a sweet and memorable touch. The locals made us feel so welcome and were so kind towards us.

Xavier B — Google review

We spent a week in January 2024. That was a blast! So much fun, amazing weather, a great ski resort, delicious food, and friendly staff. 100% recommend! Will be back next year.

Liudmyla M — Google review

Pros:Beautiful mountains and views. The lifts are new and there are not a lot of people.Minuses:The organization that manages the slopes is just a bunch of incompetent people.1. All slopes closed due to low wind. Despite the fact that the lifts were not functioning no one wanted to give money back. The principle is simple all over the world. If you are not able to provide the service you were paid for, you return the money to the customer.2. No maps on the slopes and no toilets.3. The Sedzele ski lift is completely out of service - it is closed permanently, yet it is included on the slopes map available on the website. This is misleading people.4. Throughout Gudauri, the locals act as if they are surprised by winter. The roads are impassable, no one cares about the condition of the sidewalks. People fall over because no one is spreading salt or sand.5 The general impression is this. They want to take money like in the Alps, and guarantee service like in the Soviet Union.

Bernard L — Google review

I love the place, We have to plan the trip on winter time with snow -11 weather, cold and freezing wonderful ticket prices also fair not too much. We are eager to go again again🇬🇪😍❤️

Mohamed S — Google review

I give points only for the incredibly beautiful nature. Unfortunately, this is where the positives end. The resort has absolutely no pedestrian infrastructure: there are no pedestrian paths, people have to walk on slippery roadways, imagine how “convenient” it is in ski boots. Cars are parked everywhere, as if you had gone for a walk to a huge parking lot in the mountains, and not to a resort. Huge icicles hang from the roofs right above the paths where people walk. As a tourist, you constantly feel uncomfortable and unsafe; there is no desire to go out and take a walk after skiing.

A great experience with fly Gudauri. Awesome pilot and staffs made our experience much better. It was indeed a fearsome flight due to the high wind but the pilot made it much easy for me. We got the videos of the flight the next day itself and they made it possible without further delay. The location was also great. The cost per head was 300 Lari and it was all the same with all companies across Gudauri. This is a must visit place and paragliding make the trip more adventurous.

They also operate a 4 wheel moto rental wich is the biggest tourist trap waste of money you can do in Georgia. 200 GEL do spend 20 minutes going up a small hill and back, and not allowed to go faster than 3km/hr. Avoid that part.

An experience of it's kind, visit to Chateau Mukhrani was the highlight of our visit to Georgia. Our guide made reservations and at the winery, we had private tasting and tour very well hosted by Lucas. It was thrillig to get all the details of wine making, their flavours and their pairing. Situated just 40 mins from Tbilisi, the winery displays the feeling of royalty and since we visited around noon, the place was quite and peaceful. Lucas is a knowledgeable person, young and energetic wheras all other staff were courteous. We tasted four types of wine with different pairings. We purchased a few bottles too, based on suggestions from Lucas.Highly recommended if you are in Tbilisi or traveling to Kutaisi from Tbilisi - to visit Chateau Mukhrani.

We did a really nice wine tasting and tour here. You need to contact them to arrange tasting/tour but even if you don’t there is a nice restaurant where you can order by the glass/bottle. There was a confusion about where the tour starts for us, I’d advice them to make this clearer for the visitors as we directly went to the restaurant and the estate has many different buildings. The tour itself was nice. It was really cool to see the stainless tank production area. Lastly, my only complaint is about how the only place to purchase wines is the restaurant (which is the furthest away building from the parking lot - you need to carry them back to your car). I don’t understand why it’s not possible to purchase wines directly at the tasting room.

This significant castle complex, boasting two churches and picturesque river views, has witnessed numerous battles throughout its history. To visit Ananuri and the Russia-Georgia Monument en route to the fortress, opting for a taxi at triple the cost of a marshrutka is recommended. Travel time spans approximately 3.5 hours over 153km.

Well maintained and beautiful place. A massive fortress with a panoramic view of mountains and river on the background. A big parking space with refreshment stores and washrooms also available. A must visit place while travelling to Gudauri.

Very nice fortress with stunning view towards the lake. A picturesque landscape that offer a sense of tranquility from afar, but note that it will get busy once you're in the complex. Met a few beggars right at the entrance, which I'm told is a normal occurrence.

Moderate size castle and beautiful church with amazing frescos.. The view is just spectacular.. you can buy the candle from inside and light if you want. Their is a watch tower behind the church with very narrow & steep steps.. The view from top of the water tower is beautiful, but not very safe to climb with small kids. Decent clothing is must. You can use scarf.

It's advisable to visit during late hours to avoid crowds, as there were quite a lot of people when I went. Parking is limited, so I had to park on the side of the road. Paid public restrooms are available in the front area, along with several restaurants. The architecture is stunning, combining a fortress and a church within the same complex in a beautiful location. However, there were some repair tools and equipment left along the footpath or inside the fortress, which posed safety concerns for visitors.

Amazingly beautiful place, with wonderful views of the crystalline waters of the Aragvi River. The castle itself was the scene of numerous famous battles. There are two churches in the complex, both definitely worth visiting, although much of them was destroyed by old fires.

This place is very calm and nice, there are usually tourists during the day but they only go to the church, you can have a walk in the park downhill or just relax by the water and swim. the nature is beautiful and there is a small church you can check uphill. Would definitely recommend it if you’re close to the area.

Nice place to take pictures and learn more about the Georgian history and architecture. My daughter enjoyed the horse ride for 15 minutes which will cost you 40GEL. There were teenagers as well offering pictures with parrots which will cost you 20GEL per person..I had to indulge my daughter but I personally felt it was a bit too much as they will only allow picture of 1 person with parrot.

I was amazed with the place not only because of its beauty but also due to its historical background. Ananuri Fortress is like stepping into a real-life fairytale castle! It's an old, cool place by a river in Georgia. You can climb up the towers and imagine what it was like to live there hundreds of years ago. There are neat paintings inside and awesome views outside. If you like adventures and history, you'll love visiting Ananuri Fortress!

Nimz — Google review

Perfect stop if you're heading further north. We enjoyed the chapel and exploring the grounds. My husband enjoyed climbing the tower. Small bazaar on property and there were WCs there too

Megan N — Google review

Absolutely beautiful fortress and church, with a fantastic view. However! If you climb the tower, be warned that there is only a very narrow way up and down, so you will probably get stuck in a traffic jam with other tourists.

Eskil W — Google review

Good place. Reccomend to visit, but 20 - 30 minutes it's enough, good place to stop, during trip to the mountains.

Dmitriy K — Google review

Beautiful fortress with great views. Although you won’t be able to see much due to the wall. There is a sandy beach down. You can see it from up.The stairs of the castle are very dangerous 😳 but you will enjoy the view

Rodaina M — Google review

Amazing architecture for combining the fortress and the church at the same complex on the very nice location. However, some repairing or fixing instruments were left along the footpath or inside the fortress which was unsafe for the visitors.

Duangp*rn P — Google review

Ananuri, a medieval defensive fortress is locatedabout an hour drive from Tbilisi city. Anauri castle was built by the feudal dynasty which ruled the area from the 13th century. It was the scene of numerous battles. There are two churches inside which was built in the 17th century and not very well maintained. It gives a picturesque view of the Aragvi River. Very unique place, should not be missed.

Soudamini M — Google review

Second time here, but it's always amazed us. We came here in Autumn 2022 and now in Spring 2024.. The difference is the river's view. In summer and autumn the river was so beautiful, but in the winter and early spring like now, the Aragvi water was empty

Nomad's W — Google review

Stunning place with great view, the fort/church need some taking care of otherwise it can be dangerous for some serious injury ,it would be wonderful if there was guide to teach us about the history of the building, quite enjoyed my time there ,✅paid washrooms ,snacks kiosk and souvenir kiosk are available on the side 🤝Kindly wear and follow the dress code 🫶🏻

Laila N — Google review

Beautiful place, can be visited if it's included in the tour to Kazbegi or any other. I would not plan the trip to the castle separately. Not much to see.

Mariya K — Google review

Nice place to visit and its views. Nothing super special except thatnit gives the local vibes. Limited English boards does limit the understanding of the place or significance.

Karthik R — Google review

Very nice church. Still its active and every Sundays its has the mass.We went there 12pm ,too much crowd. And very hot in June.

Chathurika P — Google review

Breathtaking place. Very beautiful and stunning view. We were here on a rainy day, but I must say it’s another experience: gloomy sky, foggy peaks of mountains give different vibe.

Salima R — Google review

This fortress is a great place to go for parents with their kids (or without, I went alone being a 29-year-old man)! This place will give one an idea of what it felt like being a soldier serving in a fortress in the medieval times Georgia. The fortress itself looks just awesome and authentic. There's a small cathedral in the middle of the fortification complex and the entire venue will easily keep anyone busy exploring its wall and towers for at least an hour. There's an adjacent small market selling souvenirs and a parking lot (charge is 3 lari for cars, but will be free if you're coming in the evening hours).

Michael W — Google review

Even though the weather was rainy and grey, we had a good time exploring the fortress. One disappointment was the church inside was closed during our visit.

Rhys T — Google review

Nice stopover on your way to Gadauri. The fort complex offers some great views of the nearby dam. The complex houses an old fort and a church. The complex also houses an old tunnel which was used by the residents to bring in food items during war.

Milind S — Google review

Wonderful view, peaceful surrounding. Definitely explore the narrow stairway that takes you to the top to get the top view and also showing the tower constructed for enemy defence.

Monastery

Sights & Landmarks

Nestled in a narrow limestone canyon on the northern bank of the Kura River, about 30 km from Georgia's capital Tbilisi, lies the Shiomgvime Monastery. This medieval monastic complex is steeped in history and tradition, with its origins dating back to the 6th century when it was founded by the monk Shio.

This was one of my favorite’s. Out in the middle of no where and still has a lot of original frescoes. SHIO-MGVIME MONASTERY5th century monastery out in the middle of no where. It was my favorite today. Also had an evil eye in it? The entrance doors are very “Game of Thrones”

Stunningly beautiful and Ancient it is definitely a place to visit! Go to the gift shop and get your candles and go say a few prayers and make yourself feel whole!

Jon M — Google review

Personally, I don't think it's something wow and omg and the most beautiful place on the earth. If you aren't religious fanatic, you might not find much to be impressed about. The church has some beautiful frescoes and they are indeed mesmerizing. At the same time, you look at the area around it and see all these luxurious houses, gardens and expensive cars, place flooded with restriction signs, no WC's, no chairs and everything that will make you leave the place asap. I hoped there would be path and possibility to climb close to the caves but every turn has restriction sign. The good side is that it's very close to Tbilisi (30mins) and there are parking spots and a good road. Overall, it's a nice location, there are nice picnic spots at the road but it's not the place that I would visit again.

Ekaterine ( — Google review

It is located 40 km from Tbilisi, in Mtskheti municipality, on the left bank of Mtkvari river. It was founded in the second half of the 6th century by one of the Assyrian fathers Shio. According to the sources, Shio spent the last years of his life in a dark and deep cave, after his death, according to the will, he was buried there (hence the name "Shio Cave", "Shiomghvime"). His grave in Shiomghvime was considered a holy place.

This place is something. I went there in winter time, I can only imagine how it’s look in summer or spring 😍

Marina A — Google review

Beautiful monastery. If you are driving there yourself make sure of the directions cause google maps gives wrong directions to the monastery. Follow the road signs to the monastery.

Rushabh R — Google review

One if the beautiful monasteries in Georgia. Shape of this monastery is different from other monasteries without dome roof. No transportation except taxi. Fresco and paintings are really impressive. Must visit place when you are in Tbilisi.

Kwang K — Google review

Incredible! Not a busy place. We were taken there by a taxi driver, Jvari + 20 GEL. It's worth it! The views along the way are amazing, the monastery complex is an island of peace and silence. The monastery is surrounded by rocks with caves that are visible directly from the territory of the monastery.

Anna B — Google review

Oh wow this place is super unique. I was interested to come to this monastery because it's located in a limestone canyon. When I got there with my friends, I saw that most of the visitors were Georgian, and they came there for religious purposes. Not so many international tourists. A peaceful place.

Iona C — Google review

This is one my top destinations close to Tbilisi. The monastery is beautiful located in an astonishing nature. The environment is so different from Mtskheta and its just 25 minutes from the city Center. For more information I am adding up some photos of the interior as well as exterior.

Shio-Mgvime was the largest monastic community in Georgia in the end of 6th century. The complex beautifully nested in limestone canyon. Very peaceful.

Zurab Z — Google review

One of the most beautiful places in georgia. I believe everyone should see it. It has amazing views and churches are beautiful from inside and outside. I absolutely recommend visiting this place. Very calm atmosphere. One of the best places for trips with friends

Niniko K — Google review

A great place two dozen kilometers from the popular Mtskheta and Jvari. An ancient monastery surrounded by wooded cliffs. Graves and chapels, silence and peace. Very few tourists. A good place where you can meet the sunset (climbing on a rock nearby). Spend money and ask your driver to take you here.

Slava R — Google review

Nestled in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region of Georgia, Zhinvali Water Reservoir is a stunning sight to behold. The reservoir, with a surface area of 11.5 square kilometers and a maximum depth of 75 meters, provides drinking water to nearly half of Tbilisi's population. Surrounded by the majestic Caucasus Mountains, this reservoir offers a serene and picturesque setting for visitors.

I just love anything green, such simple green water hydro power spot

Beautiful blue water, three beautiful lookout points, you will not only get some breathtaking unreal photos, but also the wind, fresh air and just endless views of water, mountains, trees! It would be an amazing place to do a little family shoot too, if you stop at the last lookout, just drive a little slow to make sure you have time to stop on the side of the road, there is a road going down to the reservoir, which you can ignore if you want to just go to lookout points, drive past the reservoir entrance and immediately thereafter are two lookout points :) one with even fresh juice ;)

Hina A — Google review

Amazing view on the reservoir with some friendly dogs and some stores selling tourist trinkets.

Took a break at a rest stop overlooking Zhinvali Reservoir. The environment surrounding the turquoise reservoir is very scenic. There were many souvenir shops and eateries at the rest stop. Many vendors also set up chargeable photo points at scenic locations.

Might not be the exact spot however you will find several spots to stop over and enjoy the scenic beauty of this reservoir with a lush green backdrop of mountains. We went during June and the spring was warmth for the soul. You can find some photo setups that are on offer from 5 GEL and get some amazing snaps!

Hashir H — Google review

Nestled amidst the Caucasus Mountains, Georgia's Zhinvali Water Reservoir captivates with its serene beauty. The turquoise waters, formed by damming the Aragvi River in the 1980s, reflect the snow-capped peaks that cradle the reservoir. Visitors are drawn to the tranquility of the scene, perfect for a picnic or simply soaking up the fresh mountain air. On the shore lies the historic Ananuri architectural complex, adding a touch of cultural intrigue to the breathtaking natural landscape.

Water & Amusem*nt Parks

Mtatsminda Park is an amusem*nt park located in the city of Tbilisi, Georgia. The park offers rides, cafes and stunning views of the capital. Mtatsminda Park is well known for its entertainment attractions, including a massive Ferris wheel with breathtaking views of Tbilisi.

Mtatsminda Park, nestled on the picturesque slopes overlooking Tbilisi, is a true gem of Georgia’s capital city. With its lush greenery, panoramic views of the city, and a delightful blend of entertainment options, it’s a haven for locals and tourists alike. From thrilling amusem*nt rides to charming eateries, Mtatsminda Park offers a diverse range of experiences, making it the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy a day of fun, relaxation, and stunning vistas.

Ashutosh M — Google review

Not your fancy amusem*nt park with spine-chilling roller coasters and rides. Good for teens and young age kids. Tourists can get an aerial view of Georgia from here. Entrance is free, however you need to have a card topped up individually for rides. We just took the Ferris Wheel ride. Enough parking space on the road side.

Reema A — Google review

I always enjoy being up here and generally walk both up and down. Great way to keep trim. There is also a funicular to get up and down should you prefer. Lots of delightful views, lots of fun rides and places for snacks and drinks. People go alone, in couples and as family and friends groups. It's a place for everybody.

Amazing park. You can go there by train. The place is full of activities and Cafe or food. There have amazing view for Tiblisi, I really enjoyed the visit for this place. I recommended this place for every one. Kids zone is available if you have your kids. Washrooms are available also there. At the end there is store for special gifts from this park and Georgia in general. Worthy to visit.

Hani S — Google review

We went on the weekend and apparently there’s of lot of people coming. The waiting for the train is quite long and it’s not enough to take everyone up. If it got full, some of the people left behind must wait another 10 minutes or so.Inside the park is nice. It’s very spacious, however the distance of each rides are a bit far to each other. Surely you will get tired. Also you need to put in advance a credit to your card if you are planning to take the rides because they don’t accept cash inside. The view though is nice. But is it worth it? If you are into rides and other activities, yes. However if it’s just for the view. There is other places you can have the same view.

Ria V — Google review

Love it to spend quality time with family, you can buy the park card and charge it with the desired amount of money and then you can use it for the games inside. For example the wheel charges 10 gel for person and they take nice photos for you and offer one of them to print it for free.In general it is worth the visit.

You can have ice cream or have cup of coffee or tea and be amazed by Tbilisi view! Or you can take your drink and food and have a picnic there!

Amusem*nt park attractions apart, spectacular views of Tbilisi city from over 700 meters height vantage. The way to get there yes is unique, a funicular which is a tram ropeway. Some of the rides including the giant wheel were closed however it's worth a visit just for the views. Good eat and drink options available.

Love this amusem*nt park! Though it doesn’t have much, there is a lot to walk around and see and enjoy. The favourite is the roller coaster, which costs about 12 lari per person. The fun was short-lived but it was a good experience!

Fantastic park. They were setting up the Christmas Markets when we were there at 11:30am. Not that many people at the park at that time on a december morning. The views of Tbilisi are incredible, would definitely recommend going. Lots of toilets throughout the park.

Worst amusem*nt park experience ever.!! The staff are very rude, it looks like it's an abandoned place where there are no people only cats and dogs walking around!80% of the rides are closed! The wheel ticket cost 10 lari for one person! And the taxi took 9 lari for 7 ppl!! The prices are super expensive .. hot chocolate for 10 lari and only half the cup filled with no lid !! The staff are super rude and they dont put any effort explaining!! Waste of money, energy and timeFor the size of the area the rides are a few.Ps* it needs a lot of walking really a lot! It's almost a hiking place. Not a stroller friendly place!

Great park - you get there with a funicular, which is already awesome. Many attractions for kids and beautiful scenery. There’s also a nice restaurant on top but it was fully booked so you have to book in advance

Artem K — Google review

If you're looking for a nostalgic trip back in time, this Soviet era amusem*nt park is a must-visit! Despite its age of over a century, it still retains a charming ambiance that transports you to a bygone era. While the rides may not boast the latest technology seen in modern theme parks worldwide, they still manage to capture the essence of fun and adventure. For those of us born around the 90s, the experience is particularly nostalgic, evoking memories of simpler times. One of the best aspects of this park is its accessibility. There are no entry tickets required, except for the funicular, and you only pay for the rides you choose to enjoy.Additionally, the park offers a wide variety of food and drink options, allowing visitors to refuel and relax while taking in the breathtaking views of the city.Overall, if you're seeking a unique and memorable amusem*nt park experience, look no further than this gem from the Soviet era.

Shabeer H — Google review

The entrance to the park is free and you can stay inside all night if you want. There are many rides inside like a roller coaster, Ferris wheel, free fall, bumping cars, etc. You have to buy a card at the entrance and refill the money for the rides in it at the entrance itself, the card itself doesn't cost anything. The rides cost from 5gel to 12gel, the smaller rides like bumping cars cost 5gel and more extreme ones like roller coaster cost 12gel.There's small shops at the entrance where you can get snacks/juices/water (mind you it's more expensive than a supermarket). There are cute photo booths, costs 5gel for 6pics. There are many restaurants inside although I didn't personally eat at any of them. Many food stalls from burgers to pizza to Georgian food. The Ferris wheel is the best attraction, you can see the entire city from it, rather beautiful after sunset. There's many viewpoints inside and many seats to sit even as a group. The atmosphere is great. Many different events are held there. You can take a bus up but the busses stop after 9 to 10pm so if you're planning to come back later than that do factor in having to call a cab. There are many hike trails that come down from the park to the city too but don't go for them alone at night.

Surbhi S — Google review

Nice amusem*nt park from soviet era, It has a charming ambience and It is supposed to be more than 100 years old.Rides are not that much compared with the new rides among the world, but still doing the trick and make you feel nostalgia if you were born around the 90s.No entry tickets apart from the funicular are required but you have to pay for every ride on its own. Also you have plenty of food & drinking options plus an amazing view of the city

Mario M — Google review

Gurhit S — Google review

This is a resentment park, not an amusem*nt park! 40 lari for two people just to ride the funicular up and down? We were expecting fun, not frustration! No attractions are operating, and there's not a single staff member in sight. Just a few cafes are limping along. There are zero warnings or signs about the out-of-service attractions. 40 lari for a scenic (but pointless) glorified gondola ride? Outrageous! Of course, the most enticing attractions are all the way at the top, and guess what? Out of service too! No way to find out until you make the trek up that hill, only to be met with disappointment. Save your money and your energy – avoid this place!

Aydin N — Google review

The Funicular Restaurant is a popular tourist destination located on top of Mtatsminda, the last stop on Tbilisi's funicular railway. The restaurant complex features stylish shops, bars and a ballroom, from which you can enjoy a spectacular view of the city and the surrounding area.

The food was really nice and tastey. We initially booked for an outdoor seating but since they expected rain we couldn't get to sit outside. But the ambience inside was really good. The person who served help us move to a desired table and kept checking on us throughout if we needed anything else. They were very polite and friendly. The must have was their desert. Something to die for. It's a must try.We used the Funicular to arrive at this restaurant and it's a magnificent view and dint realize it's too high above the city. Recommended for a special occasion or date night.

Vijoy V — Google review

The "train" going up to the Funicular is closed during holidays.Good thing we were in a private tour for this event. From here, you will have a good vantage point of the city of Tbilisi.

Introvert F — Google review

Decent food with a superb view. The overall taste of all the items we had here, as well as their prices are somewhat underwhelming compared to their counterparts found all around the city. However, it is important to note that the view makes up for it in most cases, unless you really are simply looking for the best grub in town. We did enjoy the ponchiki very much though, so definitely add that to your meal as well. It is simple, as simple as it looks on photos, but definitely tasty, a true example to "less is more."

The Funicular Upper Station in Tbilisi is an absolute gem and a must-visit for anyone exploring the city. Located at the top of Mtatsminda Hill, this station is more than just a transportation hub—it's a destination in itself! Here’s why it deserves five stars:Arriving at the Upper Station via the funicular is a treat. The journey up the hill offers breathtaking views of Tbilisi, and the anticipation builds as you approach the top. The ride is smooth, comfortable, and a highlight of the trip.Once you step off the funicular, you’re greeted with sweeping views of the city below. The observation area provides a fantastic vantage point to see Tbilisi in all its glory, from the sprawling urban landscape to the winding Kura River. It is a fun experience while visiting Tbilisi. There is a theme park at the the top with coffee shops and different rides. It's chilly at the top of the mountain during the winter months.

The place is beautiful, the view spectacular, the food awesome. Thanks to my fantastic hosts I spent great time there, enjoying huge variety of Georgian cuisine. Helpful and friendly staff make the picture complete.

I nice restaurant at top of the mountain. It is easily accessible by funicular. You will have a breathtaking view to Tbilisi. It offers traditional Georgian food.

An amazing amusem*nt park on top of the hill with a spectacular view of the Tiblisi City.Lost of attractions for children and adults, there are many restaurants located within the park. Also beautiful landscape, ideal for school picnics or family fun time.Lot of water rides too.

Nithin M — Google review

Very nice coffee, like a bistro. You definitely need to try Ponchiki which is a larger sweet donut, filled with pudding creme, a local specialty. Have Georgian tee with it.

Balazs K — Google review

Corn bread was made a month ago, it’s hard like a rock and cold. The service was slow, even tho it’s empty. The view is amazing tho.The mushroom with cheese is pretty good.

Zio O — Google review

Definitely worthwhile to stay for a while at cafe funicular, and at least to have their khachapuri, for me it was one of the most delicious I've ever had!And the view from there is awesome as well, the variety of deserts will also surprise.💯 For khachapuri, just perfect 💚

Anastasia B — Google review

What comes to food, compare this to an amusem*nt park, not to a fine dining restaurant. Wine tasted like the cheapest boxed bulk wine, edibles were okay. Nothing wrong with the bottled water they served. Salad had some slightly mushy parts.Amazing views, but you don’t need to go inside the restaurant to see them. You will find much better food and service for 70% of the price if you go somewhere small and local.

Felix B — Google review

I ordered Old Fashioned and I’m sorry to report it wasn’t up to the mark. The berry lemonade was average tasting according to my co-diner. I wanted to check their bar but faced resistance from bouncers for unknown reasons but one of them obliged and wanted to chaperone but anyway. This rating is for the service and the one-of-a-kind panoramic view of Tbilisi from the restaurant’s terrace outshines and eclipses the average food experience of the restaurant itself. Must-visit place and restaurant, and to each his own. Prices are very reasonable. Funicular round trip GEL 20 per person and GEL 2 for the card; vantage points PRICELESS!

If you're looking for a great time, I'd definitely recommend heading over to this place around sunset, which usually happens around 7:40 PM. Trust me, the view alone is worth it.Now, let's talk about the desserts. You absolutely cannot leave without trying their heavenly honey cake and Ponchiki (Georgian donuts). Seriously, they're to die for. I guarantee you'll be left wanting more.As for the food, we ordered the veal, kebab sandwich, and pork BBQ, and boy, they did not disappoint. The flavors were on point. The only downside? We wished the portions were a bit more generous. We could have easily devoured more of those tasty dishes.

Susan G — Google review

Well, I really liked this place so I went three times during my stay in Tbilisi for dinner. The view, food, drinks, the service was top notch. Only thing during my list some food tasted different than previous two visits and I assume there was a different cook in the kitchen. We had also live music performance during my last visit, and the restaurant was quite empty. It felt like I had a private concert with delicious food.

Ali G — Google review

Must visit. I advise to take the tram up and down the mountain. And very delicious food.

Dina T — Google review

I recently dined at the Funicular Restaurant and was blown away by the experience. The breathtaking view alone is worth the visit, but the food truly shines. The khachapuri was incredibly delicious, and the desserts were equally delightful. Each dish was prepared to perfection, making it a memorable culinary experience. I highly recommend the Funicular Restaurant for its amazing food and stunning scenery.

Sinem Y — Google review

Had an exceptional dining experience. The staff was attentive, the menu featured a delightful fusion of flavors, and each dish was a culinary masterpiece. The atmosphere was inviting, with a perfect balance of lively and intimate vibes. I was thoroughly impressed and look forward to returning for another memorable meal!

It’s a beautiful and very impressive place. The service is great. The portion sizes are just right— not too big and not too small. You can see the whole of Tbilisi from a bird’s-eye view. We ordered the Chkmeruli. The sauce with garlic was very tasty.

Anastasiia O — Google review

Very nice place to eat authentic food!It is a bit more touristic restaurant but still very good and we were positive surprised.

Charel T — Google review

We stopped at the bakery, ordered ice cream and Adjarian Boat Shaped Bread, and a local donut. For drink, we had home made iced tea and Americano. We HAD to order a second donut, way too delicious. Special sweet and has nothing to do with American donuts.Ice cream was delicious as well. For 5 GEL wow.The boat is awesome if you like eggs. It tastes as a piece of heaven as I mulched it in no time.

M L — Google review

The best place to try this sweet however it is over priced 3 times higher than the cost in the city , the prices are extremely higher than the city minimum twice , the view is extremely worth it , the outdoor sitting area is closed is it bcz it is winter or it is permanently close have no idea , would be such experience to be in high spot with good food instead of being inside doors

Maha A — Google review

The restaurant not only met but exceeded all expectations. The service is nothing short of remarkable, and the culinary experience is heavenly. The diverse flavors and impeccable balance in every dish create a delightful gastronomic journey. The ambience of the restaurant is nothing short of astonishing, complemented by the best view in the entire city and a live piano performance. This establishment stands as a true classic, offering an exceptional blend of exquisite dining, ambiance, and entertainment.

6 Khinkali for 19 lari?! Is it a joke? 4 years ago it was an amazing place with great and tasty food, I would often go there with my family and this time when we visited everything was changes the menu and the food was terrible. Khinkali had too much herbs in it and the Kababi was so dry and awful i have no words! Very disappointed I hope they change it again to normal so people can go and enjoy tasty food with normal prices and not pay a price of a Kidney!

Greek G — Google review

A beautiful restaurant with superb panoramic views of Tbilisi, lovely environment and attentive service. It is a great option for families, friends and even business lunches or dinners. Food is nice, however, a little overpriced, everything has a nice presentation.Especially recommend Adjarian khachapuri and Lagidze Water (legendary soft drinks of Georgia).

Ordered the honey cake and napoleon. Both were moist and yummy but wasn’t blown away..was expecting them to be spectacular but nope. Napoleon was better than honey cake for sure. Massive servings though..had to take away 🙄

Olenka S — Google review

The place is great and the food is nice, but the service is really bad!First we asked the waiter for an empty table and he pointed us to a far table not facing any window, and the place is only about its view! I asked him for a window table and he said not available! I showed him many empty window tables and the place was half empty, he didn't know what to say then pretended he was preparing one for us and we sat there! The waiters kept looking at us while eating many times, whenever i look around i find few of them looking and talking as if they r talking about us! Not comfortable at all! And finally the waiter giving us the cheque he throwed it on the table from distance, and when we left they didn't even say thanks or see you again, i never seen this in any cheap restaurant! So if you want to go just enjoy the view and food, done expect any average service, as seems the waiters there have no basics about it.

Abdelrahman E — Google review

Excellent location and breathtaking, but unfortunately the food was subpar. I truly hope that the restaurant management would consider raising the standard of food to reflect the excellent location and staff. The one good food was the Hadjika chilli paste

Novus N — Google review

We took funicular to go to the restaurant, the experience was amazing. The restaurant was a bit busy but the staff managed everything. The food was superb! Especially the salad & Khachapuri (the warm boat-shaped, filled with a cheese-stuffed crust and egg baked into the center) 🍳 Extremely yummy

Cultural and tourist centerNamed after a famous medieval Georgian poet “Shota Rustaveli”, it is a charming culturally rich street, and you have to spend some time just walking around the avenue. The street starts at Freedom/Liberty Square, running along for about 1.5 KM, and along its sides, you will find some of the most important and magnificent buildings of Tbilisi, such as the "Parliament of Georgia", the "Kashveti St. George Church", the "Rustaveli Theater", the "Georgian National Museum", the "Tbilisi Opera House", as well as a lot of hotels, restaurants, cafes, souvenir shops…etc. such a lovely experience.

Monuments & Statues

The Mother of Georgia statue is a 20-meter aluminum figure designed by Georgian artist Elguja Amashukeli and erected in 1958 in Tbilisi. With its strong presence and beautiful Tbilisi view, the monument is beloved by locals and tourists alike.

Very beautiful view of Tbilisi from here. But you can not take photo of the front side of the statue there, still worth the visit. You can go there by telecabin with metro electronic card, or climb up too many stairs. If you use stairs for going up or down, you can visit Narikala castle, sulfur bath, and Jomma mosque on the way.

Danesh I — Google review

Beautiful monument! Mother of Georgia has a beautiful Tbilisi view!you can see the statue from Rike park the park is also wonderful! If weather is good and not windy you can take you can go up via cable car! You will get fresh air. It has a beautiful view. There are too many vendors on the way. Pay attention to them. enjoy the view

AnooChi — Google review

You can take from there, a few of the best photos of old Tbilisi, from the top.In the summer it is not so pleasant I have to say. So you should take your cap and sun 🌞 block. You will not be able to take a good photo of the statue of the mother of Georgia from there, you will need to climb down to take that photo. If you are visiting Tbilisi for the 1st time, you may be should go.Note: if you are taking the cable car, they have the habit of pushing extra people in the same ride mainly when it is busy.

Mohamad H — Google review

The scale of the monument isn’t apparent when admiring from the cities streets below, so I would recommend taking the trek to admire up close. It’s a shame it’s not possible to view from the front when on the hill, but the small viewing platform at her feet offers a unique perspective. Full of history and meaning, I’d recommend to anyone on their first visit to the city and it’s an impressive piece of art.

An iconic monument which can be visible from anywhere in Tbilisi.. holding sword in one hand to protect and wine in other hand to welcome the visitors. You can reach there in a cable car. and view from there is fantastic.

Vinu B — Google review

There is nothing to see about mother of Georgia, but Im sure you will like the way going towards it, very good walking atmosphere and selling shops, nice gathering around to get connections with local people, but safety first 🙏🏻🙏🏻 and you need line-cable box to go up which cost you 5 Georgian Lari, you can walk down once returning back. Veey good city view from top and breeze was awesome, wine will help if one drinks 🍺5/5 going towards it especially in winter3/5 for Mother of Georgia

Asad I — Google review

Cable car ride to the top was the best part. Very scenic. Once at the top, a lot of peddlers and some souvenir shops with a couple coffee/snack shops. The statue is so far forward on the mountain that you can’t see the front of the statue. It is much better viewed from the city.

Leeward — Google review

Nice walk upto the top from the narikala fortress and you get to the base of the statue with some good views of the city. Recommended to go up by walk and come down by the cable car or vice Versa. The park at the back also provides for a good walk leading you to the waterfall.

Ahmed S — Google review

The statue is a woman standing on the Sololaki hill with a bowl of wine in one hand (warm hospitality) and a sword in the other (fight for freedom). It is difficult to a frontal shot of the statue unless a drone is used. Good panoramic view of Tbilisi Old Town

CK C — Google review

Got to the Mother of Georgia by cable car which is the easy way and took 6 mins to the top. There are many local souvenir kiosks and botanical garden beside the statue of the Mother of Georgia. The top view of Tbilisi from this area is wonderful and worth to visit.

Word to the wise, don't take the mountain cart on the way up unless you have to, and instead walk up to enjoy the mesmerizing view and breeze and take it on your way down. Video is walking down ... Walking it once was not enough. God I love you Tblisi ❤️There is a beautiful church on your way up, take a break there and listen to the prayers while you look at the city from above. You are welcome 😁Also please I beg you DO NOT LITTER 🚮 🚯🚯🚯🚯

Nice place to relax, have a walk and refresh alone, with partner of family. Beautiful view during every time of the day. Interesting and mysterious aura , especially at night. A 5 minute ride by car from Sololaki and a cable also available to take people up the hill. Just enjoy the place

Alexander L — Google review

We went there using the cable car. Amazing view and you must visit when you visit Tbilisi Georgia. Panoramic view and it’s affordable.when you get there try zip line and visit the botanical garden and you can buy some gifts for your friends and family

Fatemah ( — Google review

This is like a short hike to the top if you like to hike a little and another way which I didn't know was from back you could also drive up here as well, I tried both and liked the hike part better if you are visiting near sunset or after and the drive part if the sun os over your head (as it can get a bit sweaty - the hike). You can enjoy some sweets at the top here and beautiful views of the city. There is also a botanical garden somewhere nearby. There are also some shops for gifts/souvenirs. The cable car is also another way of reaching or leaving from here but I would suggest trying to hike by foot. There are also a lot of restaurants and bars on the slope and way to the city which you can enjoy ✌🏻

Vikesh D — Google review

Great view of the city. Nice statue. Nice walk down, not to difficult. We went around 9:30 to be there before the crowd and it was really nice and calm. There is a qr code at the back of the statue, must try and scan it. Really interesting.

Delphine D — Google review

This is like being at the top of the world! Giant mother statue. She holding sword and her stance gives assurances of mother protecting you all the time. The view of botanical garden and cold air was really refreshing. What is very exciting is climbing up that old fort and feeling like sitting at the top of the world. Like lion king sitting on the hilltop.

Jj S — Google review

Must have a city view on top of hill by cable car, cost 3 GEL one way. We walk down way back with visiting old church.Fabulous city skyline.

Sirip*rn S — Google review

The monument is impressive, a view from the city wouldn’t be the same without it. Yet I’m not sure if it’s worth to go up the hill, just to see it closely, as from the hill it’s possible to see mostly back of the statue. More encouraging is the fact, that you can scan QR code with audioguide there.

Mateusz K — Google review

Nice place it off with a great view of the city. The statue is magnificent and I really recommend to go up by foot. The road is very twisting and full of stairs, but very rewarding. Once you get up, it’s really appreciate the view of the city.

The monument in Georgia's capital city is a must-visit while in Tbilisi. From the top of the mountain, you can see the entire city. The best way to reach it is to walk from Tbilisi and descend by ropeway. The Mother of Georgia statue symbolizes the Georgian nation: she holds a bowl of wine in her left hand to welcome friends and a sword in her right hand to defend against enemies, reflecting the country's history. It's a wonderful place to visit.

Munalin Y — Google review

Fun cable car ride up to see the statue up close! Unfortunately the nearby fortress and botanical gardens were both closed. I visited during the summer so it gets very hot! Great view of the city but not much else to do.

Hossein Z — Google review

Mother Georgia, Tbilisi, Georgia: Perched high-up on the Sokolaki hill is Mother Georgia, lovingly looking down on her city. She epitomises feminine and masculine qualities – cup of wine in 1 hand to welcome those who come as friends, and a sword for the enemies (love this). This is the second “mother” we’ve seen after the one in Armenia. The third is in Ukraine. #eatstylishtravelstylish

Visited Tbilisi last May 15, it was a sunny day, and Mother Georgia is a must place to wander around. You will appreciate Tbilisi city more from top view. We took the cable car to reach Mother of Georgia and washroom is available from mountain top. Scenic views, breathtaking landscapes and I am thankful for the beautiful experience.

Monument in capital city of Georgia. A must visit site while you are in Tbilisi. The whole city of Tbilisi is visible from the top of the mountain. The best way to approach is by walk from Tbilisi and come down through rope way. The Mother of Georgia symbolizes the Georgian nation: in her left hand she holds a bowl of wine to greet those who come as friends, and in her right hand is a sword for those who come as enemies. This is symbolic of the history of the country. A wonderful place to visit.

JIJEESH U — Google review

You can’t miss Mother of Georgia watching over Tbilisi from the mountain top. I think the best view of her is from afar so you can see it from the front but it’s quite spectacular to stand right under her too. I highly recommend taking the cable car to the top and walking to the statue.

Anna R — Google review

A symbol of resilience, the mother of Georgia statue has a sword in right hand and wine cup in the other, symbolic of Georgian strength for adversaries and hospitality for friends. 66 feet tall statue is all in white. The entire city of Tbilisi can be viewed from here. I took the cable car ride to and fro. There is a botanical Garden which could be visited before the statue

GIRUBA S — Google review

There is not much to see up there except for couple of gift shops. However, the monument is very gorgeous and meaningful. The city view is great too. You can go up with funicular and go down walking.

K. O — Google review

A must visit place when visiting Tbilisi. Not just for the mother of Georgia but also because of the amazing views of the mountains and the city. There are also a couple things like a waterfall, a church, a hill you can climb up, a botanical garden, and more interesting things to do and see in the area. You can’t see much of the statue except the back and the sides once you’re up though so make sure to take pictures on the way up or when you’re below before or after coming. There are 2 ways that I know of to get up. Go to the Rike Park at the bottom and find the cable cars and get a ticket. Or you can go to Liberty Square, walk about 10 minutes from there and eventually you’ll see stairs heading all the way up.

Xoom T — Google review

Mother of GeorgiaThis huge Aluminium statue of a lady holding a wine bowl in one hand and a sword in the other is placed on a ridge (Sololaki hill) overlooking Tbilisi. They call it Kartlis Deda or Mother of Georgian. This 20 m statue was installed there in 1958. The statue can be reached by either taking a cable car to the Narikala fortress entrance and then walking about 200 m to the statue, or by walking up the hill from the Liberty Square. The 10 minute walk is enjoyable as there’s a track leading up to the statue. Nice and picturesque view of Tbilisi can be enjoyed from here.

Bridge

Sights & Landmarks

The Bridge of Peace is a pedestrian bridge featured in the city of Tbilisi, Georgia. The arching steel and glass design is captivating and catches the eye even from a distance, while the LED lights illuminate evenings with pulsating Morse code messages informing passersby about the elemental composition of human anatomy. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Tbilisi and locals nickname it the Always Ultra Bridge.

The peace bridge is a bridge crossing the Kura and is next to the casino and next to a huge park in which you can take a balloon ride. Nearby is also a gondola (cable car) which you can use to ride into the mountain. The bridge was opened on the 6th of May 2010 and is 150m long. The bridge has a unique glass construction as a roof which lights up at night. On the bridge there are many artists and also you can be lucky seeing dudes with a peaco*ck which is amazing but they want 20 Lari for a picture with them (they let me hold it for free which was nice!!)I enjoyed being there a lot and having a great experience crossing. It's very popular and part of the city attractions. And it's one which I can recommend using instead of the other bridge possibilities.

Nicotour H — Google review

One of the nice architecture of Georgia crossing the mtkvari river in the heart of the Tbilisi city connecting old city. In the night there will be beautiful LED light show. You can have nice wonderful view from the bridge. As this is in the central place of Tbilisi it is easy to access and you should try both night and morning.

Excellent peace bridge. Constructed with steel and glass. Crowded area, one of the best destinations and landmarks for travelers. It is in Tbilisi and nearby many places are there. Careful full with private travel agents. They will ask for more money for trios and rides. They will come and disturb us frequently. Don't give them any money. Directly you can handle.

he Bridge of Peace, is a fantastic place to visit with many nearby activities. Admission is free. Close by, you can explore the old town's vibrant nightlife, numerous restaurants, and souvenir shops. Adjacent to the bridge is Rike Park, where you can take a cable car ride to the fortress. Overall, it is a beautiful and scenic attraction

Munalin Y — Google review

The Bridge of Peace is a must-visit landmark in Tbilisi. Its stunning design, functional excellence, and cultural significance make it a standout attraction in the city. Whether you visit during the day to take in the panoramic views or at night to enjoy the captivating light display, the Bridge of Peace promises a memorable experience.Overall, the Bridge of Peace is not just a passageway but a destination in its own right, embodying the essence of Tbilisi – a city where history and modernity coexist in perfect harmony.

Beautiful bridge in the middle of city, views from the bridge are not able to explain in words. You would feel like standing at the bridge listening to the soothing live music and watching the sea for hours and hours

Karan G — Google review

Such a pretty good experience to walk on it and see both the beautiful sides of the city the old central city and new. The view in day time and night time both are so good to experience. It's very popular with tourists. You can go there any time as it has become a common pedestrian bridge. It's very illuminated at night that you enjoy walking on it and can take very good pictures.

Nasmah M — Google review

Beautiful bridge, nice to cross the river from it. Singer playing on the way. It free to pass on it. You can go from the bridge to park and to the cable railway. At the evening-night it full of lights across all the way. Recommend.

Very Nice and loving Environment, every tourist should must Visit here. If we Go during evening time, there is nice moon & river Pictures we can get.! Its so beautiful 😻

Beautiful architecture in Tbilisi worth visiting if you’re there, something I didn’t like is some people making money out of picture taken with birds like peaco*cks or parrots, please don’t take any pictures with those birds as they cut their wings so they can’t actually fly. The bridge connects two sides of Tbilisi and is on the Kura river with a view, its so bright during the night and you can visit it for free. The place is wheelchair accessible.

Soveen S — Google review

I loved this area. The bridge is a gem in the city. The view from the bridge over the avenue and the river is amazing. During the night it is lighted and the result is amazing. If you have the chance don't forget to visit.

On the way from Tbilisi International Airport to the hotel, I found this beautiful bridge, "Bridge of Peace", modern design, I think it will more beautiful at night because there are illuminated lights. It is one of the must see landmarks in Tbilisi, Georgia.(1 June 2023)

Kaden T — Google review

Stunning!!! There are of course people on the bridge but not too many or at least they are happy to give you space for pictures. There are also many guys with boat trip offers which is great and totally worth it. You’ll go up and down the canal and have a different POV than when you’re on foot. Totally recommend you to check it out.

Enhle M — Google review

It’s was peaceful here lol!Grand architecture of such a bridge! Lovely! Just too many people asking you to ride their boat for huge fee.

Wonderful place to enjoy. I was staying in Old Tbilisi I walked to Bridge of peace I took some photos, then I took the cable car to mother of Tbilisi which was beautiful view. I went there around 17:00 hours to 23:00 hours. It was good experience.

Must visit bridge of either in daytime or in nighttime. It’s really beautiful and you can see panoramic view of the city. Have added few photos and videos for reference. Also you can get a boat ride down the park from there can see the bridge of peace.

Tabassum V — Google review

An absolute must-see! The Bridge of Peace is a marvel to behold, whether you choose to visit during the day or at night. Offering panoramic views of the cityscape, it serves as the perfect backdrop for some Instagram-worthy shots. But that's not all! Take the opportunity to enjoy a scenic boat ride that not only gives you a unique perspective of the bridge but also meanders through the lovely park it connects. We've visited a few times, opting to take a Bolt from our hotel and finishing the journey on foot—a decision we've never regretted. The structural design of the bridge is nothing short of amazing. But it's at night that the bridge truly comes alive. Illuminated by an array of lights, it provides a breath-taking view that complements the city's own nocturnal glow. Truly, the Bridge of Peace is where engineering meets art, and it's an experience you shouldn't miss!

Zeeshan J — Google review

The modern architecture of this bridge really contrasts with the rest of the city. It’s quite spectacular. Views from the bridge of the river and mountains are amazing. An iconic symbol of the city that you must visit at least once.

May 2024It's 30 minutes stop to walk on the bridge from our tour in the city.Wonderful architecture. There are few buskers performances that kept the walk interesting. We warm. Also a peaco*ck caretaker. Do not take any of the photos from a close shot. He will demand you pay for the shots taken. The river flow was high and fast. It was raining on this day.We took a few photos of the bridge. It's difficult to get a shot with many people on the bridge.

Surjit R — Google review

An ideal spot to enhance your evening walk in the old town, providing picturesque scenery perfect for capturing memorable photos. Named the Bridge of Peace, it brings to mind the words of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk: 'Peace at home, peace in the world'.

Emin G — Google review

The bridge is real good an architects delight , surroundings not maintained, probably during tourist season they would spruce it up , the hawkers with exotic peaco*cks and fancy monkeys and hawks may be good for a pic , but it's a wildlife abuse elsewhere in the world

A landmark in the city and worth checking out both during the day and at night, when it’s lit up beautifully. It connects between a lovely park and a great spot in the city for dining, so is well located. Some wonderful modern art in the city.

"Visited the Bridge of Peace and was captivated by its stunning modern design and the serene atmosphere it brings to Tbilisi. The illuminated lights at night create a magical ambiance. A must-see landmark that beautifully connects the old and new parts of the city. Truly a symbol of peace and harmony."

The structure of the bridge is honestly awesome. It’s made of glass and is twisty at the ends and simple yet detailed. I noticed that when I was at a higher level looking down at the bridge, that whenever someone walked on it it looked like they were walking on the water instead.Nice location right next to the Rike Park and the tramway to the Mother of Georgia and alongside other stuff. Definitely nice views of the mountains and the Mother of Georgia from the bridge too. For sure a good place to visit when coming to Tbilisi because it’s not just for the bridge, it’s also for the park, tramway, and other stuff in that area.

This awesome looking structure is called the Bridge of Peace. Its a great location to visit as there are many things you can do around this place. Its free to visit. Nearby this place is the old town where you can experience the night life at the best. There are many restaurants & shops to buy souvenirs. The bridge is a beautiful construction and a must visit attraction in Tbilisi. On the day we visited, there was a handsome singer on the bridge. His voice was beautiful. We had a great time listening to his music and enjoying the view from the bridge.

This is a bow-shaped pedestrian bridge, a steel and glass construction with numerous LEDs, over the Kura River, linking the Rike Park with Old town in central Tbilisi. Constructed in 2010. For tourists, this is the best option for crossing the city to old Tbilisi as part of the walking tour.

A great spot to add into your walking tour around the historical part of Tbilisi. The early night view from and onto the bridge will be a good background for your vacation pictures. The bridge is a bit narrow, but that wasn't a problem when I attended there. After having enough of it, you can proceed further with spectating the ancient streets with their romantic architecture down in the old town.

Sights & Landmarks

The Fortress of Narikala is a 4th century fortress that offers breathtaking views of the cityscape below. The trail leading up to the fortress takes visitors past restored churches and other historic remnants.

Amazing paths, views and lots to climb and discover all around the fortress ruins. You can go up and down easily with the cable cart. The views from the top are really impressive.

Zara.z — Google review

The ruins are absolutely stunning - it’s simply breathtaking to walk around the remains of towers and walls. What’s even more breathtaking is the view - Tbilisi is a beautiful city, and you really get to see that from Nariqala. For anyone in Tbilisi, I strongly recommend a visit at this place

Anton W — Google review

You can freely roam around and climb the walls, which means some spots need extra caution. If you're feeling adventurous, then it's definitely worth exploring.

Δημήτρης Ι — Google review

Great castle ruins with lots of little unexpected corners to explore. Normally you can continue the walk to the mother of Georgia statue but currently (April 2024) it is unfortunately closed. Also cable car up there doesn't run at the moment. Night time view very cool too...there is wine ice cream to try on the way up and you could have a great castle top picnic with amazing views there too (bring Georgina wine). Best of all the entry is free of charge. Definite must see when in Tbilisi

Great experience to climb up the steep heights. View at the top was amazing.Good to be in sports or tracking type attire. Not well lit at certain places.Need to be careful of old broken walls and some thorny bushes.

A must-visit when in Tbilisi. You can take a cable car, butwalking up is so much better as you get to seethe view and church from all angles. There arealso good spots for pictures on the way. Theview of the sunset from up there is amazing.

Afnan A — Google review

We took the cable car to the fortress in the late afternoon and experienced beautiful views from up there. It’s free of charge but also a little under developed for tourism purposes, meaning the walls are not protected by guard rails so be careful if traveling with little kids.

Adriana Y — Google review

Amazing views from the top, lots of places to climb up and over. We walked up from the town side, and decided to take the cable car down for 2.5 GEL p/p. Was not too crowded, good walking shoes recommended. Free access.

Corneil L — Google review

One of the oldest landmarks of Tbilisi, the fortress is a great piece of history. The Fortress can be accessed either via a short cable car ride, or a hike. The cable car charges 5 Laari for a two-way transfer. You also need the Tbilisi metro money card for once to load money. Once you reach the top, the views are quite nice, as the whole of Tbilisi city is visible from the fortress. You can also walk to the mother of Georgia Statue at the top. There is also a botanical garden at the top. Once you reach the top, there are a few small cafes and shops where you can have some coffee and drinks overlooking Tbilisi. It is recommended to visit the fortress in the evening and watch sunset from the top as the city turns red and pink in the evening.

Milind S — Google review

Nice trek up into the fortress.Took the gondola there, and walked home.Great views of Tbilisi!

Superb place to visit. Excellent location and Georgian architecture. Ancient buildings and outside so many traditional shops are selling Georgian items. We bought a few. Traditional buildings and houses are so good and colorful. The location is good and there is a very large area. Tall buildings constructed by big stones and mud. The church inside was so good and peaceful. We need more than one hour to look around this place. The view point is so good. 40 min drive from Tbilisi.

B G — Google review

Narikala Fortress can be accessed by car, cable car or by foot. There are steps and paths leading to the Fortress. You can see the Mother of Georgia statue and botanical garden. The waterfall was closed when I visited. Nothing much to do. Good view of the city and the short ride of the cable car.

Julia S — Google review

Such a fun and magical place ! A beautiful fortress on a large hill that you can walk around and climb different areas. The views of the city are wonderful. You can explore the entire fortress. There is a lovely church, shops and souvenirs. You can hike back down, take a cable car or the more adventurous can zip line down and land in the nearby Botanical Gardens.

Stacey O — Google review

Probably one of the most beautiful places in Tbilisi. After wandering the streets leading up to it, it offers a dramatic view of the city. What I really liked (though kinda dangerous) is that you can roam freely inside amd on the walls by day and by night. I rrally loved how one can linger as long as they want and just enjoy the view or take great pics. The site is accessible by cable car as well, but I think going on foot adds to its charm if you are a hiker.

Andreass B — Google review

The Fortress offers a commanding view of the city, showcasing its iconic buildings, churches, the Bridge of Peace, and the Mtkvari (Kura) River. Accessible by a cable car ride, the Fortress stands as an impressive architectural feat. Nearby, the Mother of Georgia statue is truly awe-inspiring when seen up close.

Munalin Y — Google review

Narikala fortress is the oldest landmark of Tbilisi. Originally it was built in the 4th century, whereas most of walls were built in 8th century. Could not visit inside the fortress, but only saw it from outside. It can be accessed with a short cable car ride. The view from the fortress is quite nice, the whole of Tbilisi city is visible from the fortress.

Soudamini M — Google review

Fortress looks impressive from the city (especially at night, with the lights) but when you come on the hill it appears, that those are mostly walls and ruins. There is a church inside, but it’s not very different from others. There are of course nice views on the city from here. Walking on the walls could be entartaining (But it’s good to know, that they are not well prepared for visitors. For me that was no problem, but there are no safety measures, sometimes you have to even climb to go further, so that could be dangerous and problematic for people with limited movement skills - I can’t imagine it in the late evening, when aerial tramway is still working). It’s good to see fortress if you’re already on the hill, but I recommend more visiting Botanical Garden which is right next to it.

**Exploring Narikella Fortress: A Glimpse into Tbilisi's Rich History**Nestled atop a rocky promontory overlooking the bustling cityscape of Tbilisi, Narikella Fortress stands as a silent sentinel, guarding the secrets of Georgia's storied past. Visiting this ancient stronghold is akin to embarking on a journey through time, where each weathered stone whispers tales of conquests, sieges, and cultural exchanges.Upon approaching the fortress, visitors are immediately struck by its imposing silhouette against the backdrop of the Caucasus Mountains. The winding path leading to the entrance is lined with vendors selling traditional Georgian handicrafts, providing a tantalizing preview of the vibrant culture awaiting within. As one steps through the weathered gates, the atmosphere shifts, transporting visitors into a bygone era. The expansive courtyard, once a bustling hub of activity, now echoes with the footsteps of curious explorers. Here, amidst the remnants of ancient structures and crumbling walls, one can't help but feel a profound sense of awe at the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity.Ascending the worn stone steps, visitors are treated to panoramic views of Tbilisi's sprawling metropolis below. The juxtaposition of old and new is striking, highlighting the city's evolution over centuries of tumultuous history. From this vantage point, it's easy to imagine the strategic importance of Narikella Fortress, commanding not only the city but also the trade routes that crisscrossed the region.Exploring the labyrinthine passages and chambers within the fortress is like unraveling a mystery, with each discovery offering new insights into Georgia's past. From the remnants of ancient weaponry to intricate frescoes adorning the walls, every corner holds a piece of the puzzle waiting to be unearthed. One of the most poignant moments of the visit is standing atop the fortress walls at sunset, as the golden hues of the evening sky cast a warm glow over the landscape. In that fleeting moment, it's possible to glimpse the timeless beauty of Georgia, a land shaped by centuries of triumphs and tribulations. However, it's essential to acknowledge that Narikella Fortress, like many historical sites, bears the scars of time. While efforts have been made to preserve and restore the fortress, there are areas where the ravages of nature and neglect are evident. Nevertheless, these imperfections only serve to enhance the authenticity of the experience, reminding visitors of the passage of time and the fragility of human endeavor. In conclusion, a visit to Narikella Fortress is a must for anyone seeking to delve into the rich tapestry of Georgia's history. From its commanding views to its enigmatic ruins, the fortress offers a captivating glimpse into the past that is sure to leave a lasting impression on all who venture within its ancient walls.

It's one of worth visiting sites from Georgia's and especially Tbilisi's sightseeings. It's easy to get the on foot. After visiting church that is really beautiful, We climbed up to hills and had panoramic view of Tbilisi's old town. Note to be careful while hiking those hills, because there is no way between hills amd one has to climb literally on rocks. But still I enjoyed that.

Very impressive fortress area with quite a few things to explore such as, the Mother of Georgia, the recently restored St. Nicholas church, a waterfall, a botanical garden, and more. You can occasionally see a couple dogs and maybe 1 or 2 cats too. I’d recommend to go in the mornings or winter time to avoid other tourists as much as possible. Also make sure to wear comfortable shoes.Definitely come here if you want to quite a good chunk of the city and at night it looks extra spectacular. You can get up to the mountain by the cable car or walk up stairs or uphill from 2 sides. 1 side is right next to the Mother of Georgia. The other side comes up next to the St. Nicholas church. Also know that when going to Narikala and the area, it is walkable and all but there are still ruins and if you’re not careful you could trip or injure yourself.

Es gibt Toiletten, Souveniers und etwas zu Snacken.(Translated by Google)We walked to the fortress via the botanical gardens and the statue of Mother Georgia. A nice hike. The fortress area is larger than it seems at first glance, as you can hike further up behind the church. However, due to the small pebbles, the path is not suitable for everyone. Caution is advised. There are toilets, souvenirs and something to snack on.

The ticket is not expensive at all. I don't have metro card, but I'm able to buy a card from the cashier. The cable car give a nice view of the city and the old town. It doesn't move to fast or too slow, which is great. One thing i don't like is that there is no officer here, so when the cable car arrive, you have to know timing, get in and get out by yourself.

I would recommend you get the round-trip ticket to avoid waiting twice in line. It's approximately a 3-4 minute ride to get to the top.I would recommend you experience it at night as it was more beautiful and waay less crowded.I'm giving it 4 stars because there's no organization, and they don't separate the lines between those who have tickets and those who want to purchase ones, so it tends to get a bit messy. In general, this is a nice activity to do if you're in town.

Sights & Landmarks

The Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi is a stunning religious complex with an impressive Georgian Orthodox cathedral, bell tower, monastery & seminary. The church was built in 2004 and is a recent development in Georgian Christianity. The foundation of the church was made with rocks taken from the Jordan River and Sion mountain, as well as soil from the Mt. Hermon area. The cathedral features beautiful stained glass windows and has become a popular tourist destination due to its after-dark images.

Very beautiful place. Clean, quiet, big territory. You can walk freely outside or sit for rest. Inside also a lot of site and you can't even feel if many people. High ceiling. For Orthodox Cristian people this is place really famous and valuable. Georgian pride, glory.

A Canadian Tourist Review: It is the most beautiful attraction in all of Tbilisi! There will be two women begging for donations outside, but you can donate at donation boxes inside. It is very well lit at night, and it has a large exterior but a relatively small interior. The grounds around it are beautiful too.Oh, and free entry! Highly recommend!

I have been told this is the biggest Cathedral in Tbilisi, and I must say it looks absolutely stunning, especially at night. My recommendation? If you want good pictures of the Cathedral itself, GO AT NIGHT (after 10pm, on a weekend)! However, at this time the inside of the Cathedral will be locked, and you will not be able to enter. Not only goes it look spectacular, but its super peaceful. Its free to enter as well (at least at this time).Must see if you are in Georgia, as there is a lot of history in this Cathedral.

what an absolutely beautiful church! the architecture is definitely something to be admired. there is a dress code and a person sitting at the entrance to the complex to ensure rules are followed. the entire area is breathtaking, even if you decide you don’t want to go inside of the church itself but just enjoy the exterior. there are lots of stairs to get to the church as well, so make sure you wear comfortable walking shoes.

This Cathedral is so stunning & impressive whether it be day or night - you can see this from afar because of its top of the hill location. This was the first go to in my list. Picture perfect, amazing attraction- surrounded by a beautiful garden & benches to sit.You need to cover up if you wanna come inside- for ladies FYI.A must visit ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

You simply can't miss this massive cathedral as it dominates Tbilisi skyline. Its listed as one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world. As you admire the impressive stone structure it looks modern as it was only completed after 9 yrs in 2004.Traditional Georgian architectural details still abound with its archways and central dome which is Georgian. I had the pleasure to be present during Sunday mass to see the devotees in worship and the Georgian chant was very uplifting.I loved this church so much, I came back at sunset to see it lit up in all its glory. The entire complex is massive. Pics on the inside not allowed and there is a small gift shop at the front.

I had the opportunity to visit a church in 2022, and it was a truly uplifting experience. The atmosphere was serene and peaceful, providing a sanctuary for reflection and contemplation. The architecture and artwork were breathtaking, with intricate details that added to the overall beauty of the space. The service was reverent and filled with a sense of community and spiritual connection. The welcoming congregation made me feel right at home, and the sermon was thought-provoking and inspiring. Church is definitely worth it.

I loved the vibe at this place. This is huge and a very beautiful church. Amazing place to take photos as well. The surrounding views of the mountains are breathtaking.Modest dress is required to enter the church. Ladies can borrow something to wear as skirt and something to cover your head at the entrance of the church.

Amazing views of Tbilisi from the top and it was much bigger than expected. We were fortunate to visit when in service, the tenors singing created a magical experience.

Want to avoid the stairs? Just walk along the side of the stairs. I looped go the right of the stairs walking past roses, lavender, grapes and then eventually a pink stone chapel and then I was on level with the church. It was a much more peaceful and shaded way to see the church and it made me notice more pieces like the patterns on the back of the church, and there’s a grape patch behind the church. A happy way for strollers and wheelchairs to go!

Very impressive modern cathedral - seems a bit sterile at first, but is certainly well attended on celebratory occasions. There is a large park all around that invites you to take a walk and offers a great view of this monumental building at every corner.

By day, it's a symbol of spiritual grandeur, inviting visitors to explore its sacred halls and marvel at its architectural splendor. But it's at night when the magic truly comes alive. With its majestic view illuminated against the dark sky, the cathedral casts an enchanting glow over the city, offering a mesmerizing bird's eye perspective. It's a must-visit destination for both daytime exploration and nighttime wonder. While the church's doors may close earlier, the outside area remains accessible until 10 pm, allowing visitors to soak in the awe-inspiring ambiance of this iconic landmark.

Marvelous piece of work !! Looks really incredible. It’s a must visit site. Maintained very well. This is the main cathedral of the Georgian Orthodox Church located in Tbilisi. Constructed between 1995 and 2004, it is the third-tallest Eastern Orthodox cathedral in the world and one of the largest religious buildings in the world by total area. Approach from the back entrance to find a suitable parking space.

One of the best place in Tbilisi. It is free to visit. We visited at day time but it looks very nice from city center. You should visit there for sure. We went to inside from up side, it was easy to find a park place and to walk.

Visited here in the late afternoon on Saturday with drizzle. Architecture of this church is beautiful and unique and more beautiful when light is turned on at night. There was a merit ceremony when we were getting inside the church. The smell from candles and incense was quite strong. It would be better if the weather is fine, however it’s worth to visit. Luckily, we were able to take a photo from my hotel room at night, how wonderful is it?
