In this day and age the number of hobbies and interests are endless, with many tools in our hands such as the internet and other technology in humanities disposal, which allows people to meet their needs and entertainments. However, when someone considers a hobby it must be interacted with endless passion, burning desire for growth, and a positive outcome in the endgame of their life. Thus, with many pursuits in hobbies throughout my life, and interacting with others regarding their interests, I have concluded that there are three types of hobbies that people must have in their life. By having these types of hobbies, someone can ensure to have a fulfilling life, that is attractive to others, and allows for someone to find their purpose or goal in life.
Physical Hobbies — Gym, Sports, Dancing
Physical hobbies consist of any physical movement, activity that requires the human body to move. Any hobby that allows the body to move and raise the heart rate. There are many physical hobbies, such as dancing, doing a form of sports like soccer or basketball, going to the gym and doing a form of weight training, any form of cardio and simply walking outside to enjoy nature’s beauty. Every person needs a physical hobby that allows them to get in shape or stay fit, but also to improve the health and growth of the human body.
Physical hobbies can guarantee someone getting stronger and healthier, delaying the body’s “sluggish” nature in old age. The health benefits that come with any physical activity is of greater value than not moving at all. Nowadays, people tend to sit around more often than moving around. Of course there are many factors at play, like people’s work or workload, living environment, and personal health situations. However, many people tend to skip being active and prefer to stay static and most of that outcome is by choice. Physical hobbies are a must and there are many hobbies to choose from.
Intellectual Hobbies — Reading, Board Games, Coding
Intellectual hobbies are hobbies that challenge someone’s mind or brain. It’s essential that people train their cognitive mind and make it function to its maximum potential. Of course, having a healthy mind is key, which can influence other aspects of life and other forms of hobbies.
Intellectual hobbies consist of board games, reading especially if you like to write, forms of academic work such as learning a discipline or a skill, coding, and possibly Math or Science related calculations if your work or passion requires it. Something to challenge one’s thinking and similar to improving the body and making it healthy, an intellectual hobby improves the mind and makes the mind healthy.
Intellectual hobbies are essential as they will improve someone’s ability to formulate logical or smart choices in a given problem. Intellectual hobbies improve the cognitive function of problem solving and critical thinking. Both critical thinking and problem solving are key skills to obtain and develop, as they can be useful in other parts of the individual’s life. The best part of intellectual hobbies is how it can be linked with the next type of hobby where it can foster more of it.
Creative/Artistic or Innovative Hobbies — Writing, Art, Music
Creative hobbies are another important type of hobbies that are essential to have. It allows one to pour all their creativity into a physical or digital substance. Creative hobbies are important as it fosters creativity from the individual and displays someone’s character or personality. The connection with Creative or Artistic hobbies and Intellectual hobbies is that it allows the benefits of intellectual hobbies to be applied in another set of events.
Meaning that the two essential skills of Intellectual hobbies: Critical Thinking and Problem solving are applicable in Creative hobbies. Creative hobbies consist of painting, writing, producing music or film, or being innovative and creating a new technological invention.
Creative hobbies are hobbies that can be published and made viewable to society. Creative hobbies unlike Intellectual or Physical can be done in a public setting where external factors can influence the hobby and foster more creative notions.
There can be an argument for how Intellectual hobbies and Physical hobbies can be viewable, however the aftermath is objectively not. Intellectual hobbies and Physical hobbies are beneficial for the person who is doing these types of hobbies. For example, when one participates in an intellectual hobby such as reading, who is reeking the reward here. The reader, as they are able to improve their minds. When one participates in a physical hobby, such as weight training, the person who is training can only obtain the reward of being muscular, strong, and losing weight of the activity.
Creative hobbies are different, and that’s why they are most likely common and probably I will rate it at the top of the three types of hobbies in this list. As they can affect or impact society and the person who is participating in the hobby.
For example, when someone produces music, it can influence other people’s lives in numerous ways and possibly allows them to be innovative. Creative hobbies are important as it allows people to express themselves to others in the form of artistic innovations that are driven by personality and intelligence of the creator or in this example, the painter.
