January 1 - Assuming no copyright extension (unless change is necessary by law), the first five Silly Symphonies shorts, the first appearances of Horace Horsecollar as well as other works (books, films, etc.) published in 1929 will enter the public domain after this date in the United States, later than most countries and regions. In addition, the soundtracks for Plane Crazy and The Gallopin' Gaucho will lapse into the public domain this year.
